Mental Health & Wellbeing

We’re pleased to share that we’ve updated our School-Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB) Matrix at Buninyong Primary School.
This matrix outlines the key behaviours we expect from all students across different settings at school, such as the classroom, playground, and shared spaces. It has been refined with input from staff and focus groups to ensure it is clear, age-appropriate, and meaningful for all students—from Prep to Year 6.
Why is this important? The SWPB Matrix helps students understand exactly what respectful, responsible, and kind behaviour looks like in different parts of the school. It creates a shared language that students and staff can use every day to support positive choices and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Teachers will be introducing the new matrix during dedicated SWPB lessons and reinforcing it throughout the school day. This helps build strong routines, encourages consistency, and supports a calm and focused learning environment.
Students will continue to receive Buni Money as acknowledgement for their success and this has been hugely popular with students of all ages.
The barometer will continue to be in use; this is a 4-step process which gives students a visual representation of the process the school follows when dealing with behaviour. The barometer will be displayed in the classroom along with the new matrix. Please note that teachers are not visibly displaying where students are on the barometer.
We’re proud to continue strengthening a culture by helping every child feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us build a positive school community!
