Kildare Campus News
Welcome to the start of a new school term! We’re excited to continue building a positive, focused and successful learning environment for all students. One of the best ways we can set students up for success is by reinforcing consistent and predictable routines – both at school and at home.
The Power of Predictable Routines
People thrive on structure. When routines are clear and consistent, students feel safe, focused and ready to learn. That’s why we’re placing a strong emphasis on:
- Clear Entry Routine – From the moment students arrive to class, we want them to feel calm and purposeful. This includes lining up, entering the classroom quietly, unpacking and beginning a starter task or warm-up activity. The classroom teacher invites students to take their seats and focus on the beginning of the lesson.
- Cue to Start Learning – A countdown, sometimes accompanied with a hand signal, is a clear cue to help students know when to shift gears and get ready to learn or redirect focus. These small habits build big gains in attention and productivity in learning.
- Effective Exit Routine – The way students finish the lessoon is just as important. A consistent exit routine helps students reflect, pack up in an orderly way, and prepare for the next lesson with confidence. This is often done in table groups to enable a smooth transition.
High Expectations Every Day
We believe in every student’s ability to achieve great things. That means we set high expectations in behaviour, effort and learning. These expectations are consistent across all classrooms, creating a culture where students know what is expected and how to succeed.
Being Organised for School and Learning
Organisation is a skill that supports success throughout life. At school, we encourage students to:
- Arrive on time and be ready to learn.
- Bring the necessary materials each day (books, stationery, homework, etc.).
- Keep their learning spaces tidy and manageable.
- Manage their time and tasks with support from staff.
At home, you can help by setting routines around sleep, preparing bags and equipment the night before and having a quiet space for homework.
By working together to support these habits, we can help students feel more confident, focused and ready to do their best. Here’s to a positive and productive term ahead!
