STEM

Prep - In Term Three, students are focusing on physical sciences - the study of non-living things. They will be investigating how things move. During the last couple of weeks, we have looked at different movements that animals (including people) make - for example: running, jumping, crawling, flying, swimming, sliding.
Year 1s - In Term Three, students are focusing on digital technologies, specifically how to solve simple problems using a Tale-Bot Pro robot. During the last couple of weeks, they have been using their understanding of the Tale-Bot Pro robot to program it to visit specific places in a zoo scenario.
Year 2s - In Term Three, students are focusing on digital technologies, specifically how to solve complex problems using a Tale-Bot Pro robot. During the last couple of weeks, they have used their understanding of the Tale-Bot Pro robot to program it to move between multiple locations based on the colour of fruits and vegetables.
Year 3s - In Term Three, students are focusing on digital technologies, specifically how to solve simple problems using a VinciBot robot. During the last couple of week, they have focused on using the motion blocks to have the VinciBot robot follow predefined paths. Students go through the process of building a code, testing the code and fixing any errors in the code, before moving to the next challenge.
Year 4s - In Term Three, students are focusing on digital technologies, specifically how to solve simple problems using a VinciBot robot. During the last couple of weeks, they have used their understanding of how to program the VinciBot robot to plan their own code, build the code, test the code and fix errors in the code.
Year 5s - In Term Three, students are focusing on digital technologies, specifically how to solve problems using a micro:bit. During the last couple of weeks, they have focused on input blocks (using buttons and gestures to activate the micro:bit), and math and logic blocks (to have the micro:bit choose between multiple outcomes based on specific events).
Year 6s - In Term Three, students are focusing on digital technologies, specifically how to use peripheral devices to solve problems using a micro:bit. During the last couple of weeks, they have learned how to attach LEDs and 180 degree positional motors using the pins on the bottom of the micro:bit.
