Art

In The Art Room

Week 2

This term our theme will be Community as we explore line, shape and colour. Students have made an enthusiastic start to the year as we welcomed them back to the art room. Last week we made our welcome display. Each student has drawn a selfie or image that expresses themselves in a decorated frame. Please drop into the office to see what has been created.

This week we are starting work on our first extended project and we look forward to sharing our progress with you.

F/1M will be starting work on their house collage, introducing us to the special people they live with and call family. Our students have shared wonderful stories and memories from home this week. We have linked our discussions of home to our family community and school community. Year two has been working on a 3D paper bag house along the same theme.

Our year three and four students are taking the theme of community and thinking wider. They have started work on their Places in Our Community project, inspired by James Rizzi. We are starting off with an A3 work that will develop into a much larger 3D instalment using the old election cardboard booths. Keep an eye out for our vibrant display as it starts to take form.

Our year five and six students will be inspired by the abstract expressionist, Marten Jansen. We will be focusing on how we express ourselves and how everyone contributes to making our vibrant and inclusive community.

Week 4

We have had a busy week diving into our first extended projects. The year three and four students made a great start to their James Rizzi inspired cityscapes. We are starting with our concept drawings and will move into creating a 3D art instalment. Our year one and two students have started work on their family home collages. It was wonderful to hear students stories of each family member as they drew them in the windows of their home.
