School Captains Report

Hello to the Parkdale community, parents and others, and welcome to 2024!

Our names are Ankita, Rhys, Alice and Summer and we are delighted to call ourselves the college captains for this year.

We would like to extend our warmest welcome to the new families that are joining the Parkdale Secondary community this year. We are thrilled to have you a part of our family, and help to make your child’s high school journey as positive and memorable as possible. And to our returning parents and friends, get excited for a wonderful year ahead.

2024 will provide many opportunities for students to showcase their talents, whatever they may be. This includes ESP camps, athletics day, multiple sport round robins and the upcoming swimming carnival, providing wonderful outlets to make new friends and get involved.

As for the arts departments, there are multiple music performances to look forward to, as well as the upcoming musical, Freaky Friday. Additionally, we also have multiple theatre productions and art shows to appreciate the diverse student talents at this school.

Moving on, as a leadership team we wanted to discuss our goals for this year. Our biggest goal for this year is to create a closer, more connected school community. We hope to encourage increased student voice and provide the opportunity for students to take initiate to drive positive change in the extended community. We plan to increase involvement at events, and provide something for everyone to enjoy, no matter their interests. Too, we aim to get all students across different year levels to connect and utilize the extensive range of activities offered here at Parkdale. We also want to place an emphasis on celebrating student achievement as much as we can, to appreciate the students who are working hard, whether it is school-related or not.

As captains, we are so excited to represent this school and work alongside your children, the teachers and yourselves this year, for the common goal that is our education.

We cannot wait for what’s to come, and we hope you are too.
