OPEROO PUSH NOTIFICATION ISSUES

I have been alerted that some parents who have changed the setting to allow push notifications in Operoo were still not receiving them.  Also looking at my end there still seemed to be a lot of parents who hadn't allowed notifications.  I have contacted the developers in regards to this.  Having tested some resolutions, the one that has worked for some parents so far is to delete the app and reinstall it, then check that your still have notifications allowed.  The developers have also recommended updating the app when updates are required.  Please let me know if this still doesn't help you.  Thanks for your understanding with this.

PLEASE NOTE: PUSH NOTIFICATIONS ARE NOT USED ALL OF THE TIME.  THE MAJORITY OF TIME YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED IN EFORMS OR MESSAGES IN MAIL.

PUSH NOTIFICATIONS ARE TO ALERT YOU TO SOMETHING HAPPENING NOW,  OR SHORTLY,  OR SOMETHING THAT REQUIRES YOUR ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.

ONLINE SAFETY

This term students in Year 1 - 6 are all discussing Online Safety in STEM classes.  This is a very important subject and one that parents should check in with their children regularly. The students are very upfront about what makes them happy when online and what makes them feel not quite right.  They are encouraged to talk to their parents or a trusted adult if something happens online that makes them feel uncomfortable.  They have told many stories about people online trying to message them, or join their games, or befriend them on social media.  The students are very well versed in what to do in theory.    It is recommended you speak to them to reiterate what they should do if something did happen to them online.

We also speak to the older students about being good citizens not only in real life but also when online.  Whilst our students are legally not old enough to have social media accounts, we realise that you as parents make the call on this for your child/children.  We

try to educate the students to have positive interactions online and only with people that have actually met in real life and not online "friends".
