Callistemon House

Welcome back to what promises to be another inspiring year for Dandenong High School and our vibrant Callistemon community!

To kick things off, I extend a warm welcome to our newest members of Callistemon House. I’m excited to announce our new staff additions, Ms Lam and Ms Sharma. Additionally, a big hello to our fresh Year 7 cohort and all the new enrolments who joined us during the summer and Term 1. The students in C7 are cheerful, kind, eager to learn, and consistently strive to excel. They have diverse interests and their teachers have been impressed with their enthusiastic start to the year. Congratulations to Remzi and Emma who were the Callistemon Transition All-Stars for 2024. These 2 students have had a fantastic start to the year, trying their best and engaging with all of the transition activities over the past 2 weeks. We eagerly anticipate meeting all our new Year 7 families at the Welcome Picnic on Wednesday, February 21st, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the Piazza Space.

Congratulations to Ms Sherry who has been appointed the Callistemon Assistant House Leader position for the year, alongside Mr Guterman who has been appointed as Callistemon’s Student Engagement Coordinator. I look forward to working with this amazing team, supporting the staff and students of our wonderful House.

At Callistemon, we hold our student leaders in high regard. It's with great excitement that we announce Lujyin's appointment as the School Vice-Captain and Phoenix as one of the SRC Presidents. These are remarkable selections and we offer them our full support as they guide our community this year. Furthermore, I'm delighted to introduce Noon and Ivana as the Callistemon House Captains for 2024. I have every confidence in their abilities and eagerly anticipate their contributions, including an article in the upcoming newsletter.

Our Student Representative Council members have also been chosen and I extend my congratulations to the following Callistemon students: Year 7 – Zainab, Year 8 – Asma, Year 9 – Abhi, Year 10 – Ethrath, Year 11 – Zenat.

I am eager to hear the innovative ideas our student leaders bring to the table this year.

Lastly, it's with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to our esteemed House Administration Officer (HAO), Ms Thomas, who has embarked on a new journey with Monash Children’s Hospital. We will dearly miss her and wish her all the best in her future endeavours. I would like to thank all our parent community for their patience and understanding given we have started the year without a HAO. We have hired somebody for the position and I look forward to introducing them to you all once they start with us in a couple of weeks.
