A warm welcome to our new prep students and their families and a warm 'welcome back!' to everyone else

Specialist subjects at our school this year include (from right to left) PE with Natarsha Kenny, Performing Arts with Sarah Bailey, S.T.E.A.M with Kate Misra, and Visual Art with Julie Clarke.

We have some fun things planned in the art room this term. I like 

to begin the school year with every student making a portrait of themselves. Students in:

- prep will draw and paint a whole picture of themselves

-grade 1 and 2 students will model their faces with plasticine

- grade 3 and 4 students will use paper to collage their face, and

-grade 5 and 6 students will draw and paint their self-portrait. 

After students have finished their self-portraits, we will be working on a whole-school themed activity in art classes.

Amazing portraiture from Layla Trist...

Layla, of 6S, is quite the artist! I was fortunate enough to see her drawing during one lunch-time, and this portrait below is what she was working on. I was so impressed by her drawing skills that I thought such amazing work simply had to be shared with our ACPS community. Such incredible talent! Layla, I've no doubt we'll see your name published some day as a wonderful illustrator and artist. Super efforts!

Art Smocks

It would be terrific if all the students could please bring in their named art smocks to their art lessons. All smocks will be stored in the art room in class tubs. It is the students' responsibilities to ensure they have an art smock to protect their clothing when required. Art smocks = clean uniform = happy parents and happy teacher. Many thanks!  

Warrandyte Pottery Expo

The Warrandyte Pottery Expo will be held on the banks of the Yarra in Warrandyte on the last weekend in February - Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February, from 10am - 5pm. There will be children's clay activities throughout the weekend. This is always a fun expo if you can get along to it and great exposure for our students to the world of pottery and ceramics.

Warrandyte Festival Street Parade

The fabulous Warrandyte Festival Street Parade will take place once again in 2024. The Street Parade will be autumnal this year and held on Saturday 20th April. Please save the date so students' and their families can represent our ACPS and walk together in the parade.
