Principal's Report
Welcome back to ACPS!
I hope everyone had a wonderful break and was able to find some time around work to unwind and enjoy some family time.
I can confidently report that our students have returned to school with an abundance of enthusiasm as they reconnect with their friends and settle into their new classes. There is a positive vibe in the air and a buzz in the classrooms and playgrounds. Particularly in our new obstacle playground that was constructed over the holidays and so generously funded by Community Bank Warrandyte. We are so grateful for your support of our school.Thank you!! Our students have been absolutely loving this new addition to our school.
Mrs Callaway’s classroom has been brimming with new excited little faces and eager little learners as we welcomed our newest students to our ACPS community. Completing their very first full week of school is a significant milestone, and I couldn't be prouder of each of them. Their courage, eagerness to learn and confidence to make new friendships has been so impressive. I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our Grade 6 students. Throughout the week, these young leaders of our school have shown kindness, care and leadership by looking out for their buddies, checking in with them at recess and lunch, and ensuring they are okay. To our new families joining us this term, we are thrilled to have you as part of our close-knit community and look forward to building strong partnerships with you as we support and nurture all of our students through their primary school journey.
We really did start the year with a bang and launched straight into our Swimming Carnival last Thursday. It was such a brilliant day watching our students give everything a go and trying their best. Whether they were racing in the pool, joining the novelty events or cheering from the sidelines, their enthusiasm and sportsmanship were commendable. A special congratulations to our Grade 3 students for competing in their very first swimming carnival and for many, swimming their first continuous 50m lap of the pool. Thank you Mrs Kenny for organising our carnival and to all staff and parents who helped on the day.
In our classrooms, students have been working through our transition program with much of the focus this past week being on connection, engagement and emphasising our School Values and School Wide Positive Behaviours which help us make ACPS a safe, happy and effective learning environment for everyone. We really are blessed to have such a caring and capable team of staff here at ACPS and this has been so evident this week.
As always our doors are always open and we look forward to working collaboratively with all families to provide the best possible learning environment and education for our students. It is a special place we have here at ACPS! Here's to a fantastic year ahead!
Run Warrandyte
Run Warrandyte is taking place on Sunday March 3rd and I would like to put together an ACPS Team to help get behind the event. Run Warrandyte is a major fundraiser for our local Football, Netball and Cricket Clubs with each of the clubs benefiting equally from the funds raised. These clubs provide our children with such supportive environments and great opportunities, led by volunteers. Given so many of our students are involved in these clubs it would be great for our school to really get behind the event.
If you would like to be part of the ACPS Team please register as an individual directly Run Warrandyte.
To help our team, I will be running some fun training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings 8:30 - 8:50am on our Oval each week leading up to the event. These will include fun warm ups, running games and lively music to keep us all motivated. All students are welcome and families are welcome and encouraged to join in too or watch if they can.
To unite our team we will also aim to meet up in the morning as a school and get as many of our students that would like to, running in an ACPS top on the day. This may be the Interschool Sport 'Creekers' tops or our footy and basketball tops.
I will also be running on the day and will enter the event distance that most of our kids sign up to. Please note it is ok if your child and yourself are not avid runners, it is fine to complete the 2.2km event with a run/walk combination.
BBQ and Meet the Teacher Afternoon
Our 'BBQ and Meet the Teacher' afternoon will be held on the ACPS Oval from 4:00 - 5:00pm on Tuesday 27th February. This event is an informal opportunity to meet your child's teachers in a group setting and to connect with other families.
School Council Elections
Our School Council plays a vital role in decision-making, policy development, and strategic planning, ensuring that the voice of our community is heard and valued. Serving on the School Council is a fantastic way to contribute to the continued success and development of our school.
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our School Council team in 2024. Whether you're a parent, guardian or staff member your perspective and ideas are invaluable in guiding our school forward.
Please see Compass for detailed information regarding the School Council election process.
Annual privacy reminder for our school community
Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy and the Schools’ Privacy Collection Notice.
Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students Policy, describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.
We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Google Workspace for Education safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Google Workspace for Education, please contact the school.
