Welcome back to another exciting school year at Greenhills!
As we gear up for the upcoming academic adventure, we wanted to share what makes Greenhills GREAT and how we're fostering a sense of connection and community within our school.
Connections at Greenhills:
At Greenhills, we take pride in the strong connections our staff team builds with students and the wider community. Our Greenhills Get Set and Connect program is specifically designed to enhance relationships and connections. We invest time and effort in establishing classroom routines and expectations, creating an orderly and safe environment where students feel comfortable. We will provide more information about the Get Set and Connect program in our next week’s contact.
Relationships – The Key to Our Success:
The cornerstone of our success lies in the relationships cultivated within Greenhills. Our teachers begin the year by getting to know each student personally and as a learner. Regular check-ins help gauge students' social, academic, and overall well-being. These trusted relationships with adults in the school community ensure that students feel at ease and ready to learn.
Student Connections – Building Through Teamwork:
We focus not only on teacher-student relationships but also on fostering connections between students. Team-building experiences and group work opportunities provide students with a platform to develop strong bonds. Taking on various roles within these groups allows students to experience success, face challenges, and acquire valuable strategies for overcoming obstacles.
Community Engagement – A Shared Value:
Our school community thrives on connections, thanks to the active engagement and support of our families. We are fortunate to have a community that values the partnership between home and school, actively participates in school events, and supports various committees. The impact of this collaboration is evident daily and is frequently acknowledged by new families entering our community.
School Wide Positive Behaviours – SWPBS
We're absolutely thrilled by the fantastic start our Greenhills students have had this year! We have continued with our school-wide positive behaviour initiative, all centred around embracing and embodying our Greenhills values. It's been fantastic to see our students enthusiastically embracing this approach, putting our values into action both in class and beyond. They have been earning the 10 cent Gazillions in and out of the classroom. Our focus is on our value of respect. This includes respecting each other and our school.
Monday Madness – Join the Fun!
To showcase our connected and vibrant community, you might have noticed the principal team and staff members engaging in Monday Madness in the yard. Whether it's limbo, dancing, or juggling, we do it with joy and excitement. Feel free to join us; if it brings a smile to a few or makes a student feel more connected to our school, it's certainly worth it!
