What a wonderful way to finish Semester 1!

Over the past fortnight, our Foundation students have continued to develop their literacy skills while exploring information texts. We were very fortunate to have a special visit from Marigold's pet bearded dragon, which sparked lots of excitement and curiosity.

We have also been fortunate to have Robyn English in our classroom over the past couple of weeks, sharing her passion and expertise in literacy. Recently, Robyn worked alongside the children to help them explore poetry, identify patterns in poems, and create their own pieces of writing.

This week, the children enjoyed logging on to their very own Chromebooks and completing a range of maths activities. These tasks reinforced our learning about patterns and gave students the opportunity to practise their skills in an engaging and interactive way.

It has been a busy and successful semester filled with learning, growth, and many wonderful experiences. Thank you for your continued support throughout the term. We wish all of our Foundation families a safe, happy, and relaxing holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for Semester 2.

Term 2 Wrap-Up

As we reach the final week of Term 2, we would like to congratulate our Year 10 students on another successful and productive term.

This week, students have been participating in the Driver Education program from Monday to Wednesday. The program has provided valuable practical experiences, including a night drive on the first evening, helping students build confidence and develop important road safety skills. Beyond the driving component, the workshops have fostered camaraderie, teamwork, and plenty of laughs, creating memorable experiences as students prepare for the next stage of their independence.

Last Friday, students also completed their Semester 1 exams in Mathematics, English, Humanities, and Physical Education. We congratulate all students on their efforts and commitment throughout the examination period.

Looking ahead to Term 3, students will undertake Work Experience during the final week of term. Many have already been busy organising their placements with the support of Robyn, and we thank her for her guidance throughout the process.

A reminder that our VCE Information Night will be held on the first day of Term 3 at 6:00 pm in the College Café. All students entering Year 11 are strongly encouraged to attend, including those considering the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) or Vocational Major (VM) pathway. This is an important opportunity for students and families to learn more about senior secondary options and begin planning for the future.

Finally, Mr Watson will be taking leave during Term 3 to travel through Europe and undertake study in fine arts in Florence. While he is away, Ms Rose and Mrs G will continue as Year 10 Home Group teachers, ensuring students remain well supported throughout the term. 🙂

Well done to all Year 10 students on a fantastic Term 2. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break and look forward to another exciting term ahead!!

 Year 11

We've Made It - End of Term 2!

We’ve made it to the end of another busy and successful term!

A huge congratulations to all of our Year 11 students for the effort you’ve put into your End of Unit Exams and, for those completing a Unit 3 & 4 subject, the GAT. We know these assessments can be challenging, and we’re proud of the commitment and resilience you’ve shown throughout the term. We now look forward to beginning Unit 2, with plenty of new learning and opportunities ahead.

Our VM students have continued to make a fantastic contribution to the College. Over recent weeks they have been busy working on an upgrade to the storage facilities in the Steel Stadium, along with completing a range of other projects and jobs around the school. Their willingness to help, practical skills and pride in their work continue to make a real difference to our school community.

As we head into the holidays, take the opportunity to rest, recharge and spend time with family and friends. You've earned a well-deserved break after a big semester of learning.

Stay warm, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another exciting term.

Mr G's Study Tip – Reflect Before You Reset

Before you put your books away for the holidays, spend 15 minutes reflecting.

  • What went well this term?
  • What could I improve next term?
  • What is one goal I'll bring into Unit 2?

A little reflection now can make a big difference next term.

"Success isn't about being the best. It's about being better than you were yesterday."

Finally, we'd like to wish Aidan Wingfield the very best of luck as he heads off to the Kokoda Track this weekend. We know this will be an incredible and life-changing experience, and we're excited to hear all about his journey when he returns. Safe travels, Aidan — we know you'll represent Wedderburn College with pride!

Push for Better Challenge Update – Week 3

Three weeks down and what an incredible effort from our Wedderburn College community!

Together we've now completed more than 15,000 push-ups and raised over $900 to support Headspace Bendigo and the amazing work they do with young people in our region.

A huge thank you to all of our push-uppers who have been getting involved every day, and to the many wonderful people who have supported us by donating or cheering us on throughout the challenge. Your encouragement and generosity are making a real difference.

There's still time to get behind the team!

If you'd like to support this fantastic cause, donations are still open. Every dollar helps support youth mental health.

Thank you for helping us push for a healthier community—one push-up at a time!
