Update from Inclusive Education

Welcome to Term 2! As we progress through the school year, it has been a busy and productive term for the Inclusive Education Faculty. Over the past eight weeks, our team has been actively supporting the implementation of Personalised Learning and Support Plans, ensuring tailored support for every student. It has been wonderful to see our students grow in confidence as they embrace new routines and learning opportunities. Our ongoing focus remains on creating accessible learning environments and fostering a culture of belonging across all classrooms.

On May 6, Stage 4 students participated in the Sydney Trains Rail Safety Workshop, delivered by Sydney Trains. This engaging workshop provided students with practical skills and essential knowledge about rail safety, an important life skill as they learn to navigate trains and stations independently. Our staff have been facilitating discussions both before and after the workshop to reinforce safe behaviours and deepen students’ understanding of rail safety.

The following day, May 7, Stage 6 HSIE Life Skills students took part in a local excursion around Campbelltown. They visited landmarks including Campbelltown Mall, Macarthur Square, Queen Street, Koshigaya Park, and adjacent footpaths, where they captured photographs to create collages as part of their learning task. This hands on experience connected classroom concepts with real world environments.

On Wednesday, June 3, three students from the Inclusive Education Faculty Faiz, Christian, and Leon proudly represented Thomas Reddall High School at the NSW Boccia Tournament held at Minto Sport Centre. Competing without reserves, the three performed outstandingly and demonstrated great sportsmanship. Their dedication contributed to an impressive second place finish for our school, competing against 23 schools statewide.

Throughout Term 2, every Thursday, NOVA Employment has been delivering the STEP (School to Employment Pathway) Job Club to enhance our Stage 6 Life Skills Work in the Community Course. Students have been actively engaging in modules including Developing a Working Lifestyle, Exploring Industry, Looking for a Job, Resume and Career Portfolios, Job Choices, and Interview Techniques equipping our students with vital skills to transition confidently into employment.

We are thrilled to announce that Darcy has been successful in being selected for the Campbelltown - Koshigaya Sister Cities Student Delegation to Japan. This exciting program invites fifteen students aged 14 to 18, who live within the Campbelltown City Council local government area to participate in a life changing cultural exchange experience, representing Campbelltown internationally. We congratulate Darcy on this remarkable achievement and wish him a rewarding experience.
