An update from our Year Advisers
Term 2 has been another big one for our Year 7 cohort, packed with adventure, growth, and plenty of memorable moments. From the very first week, our students hit the ground running and there is so much to celebrate as we wrap up another fantastic term.
Without doubt, the highlight of Term 2 was our 3-day, 2-night camp at The Great Aussie Bush Camp in Kincumber during Week 2. After a long bus trip, students arrived ready for action…and action is exactly what they got! Split into two groups, students threw themselves into an incredible range of activities including abseiling, the giant swing, archery, canoeing, rock climbing, the power fan, a mud run (apologies to the families on laundry duty!) and challenge and trivia nights to cap off each evening. It was wonderful to see so many students stepping outside their comfort zones, cheering each other on, enjoying copious cups of snow cones, building connections and creating memories that will stay with them for years to come.
A very special thank you to our incredible Principal, Carla Scott, for helping to make this experience possible for our Year 7 cohort, and of course to our fabulous teacher camp crew Mr Lugg, Mrs McCarthy, and Ms Smart who generously gave up their time to support our students throughout their two nights away from home.
Beyond camp, Term 2 has seen our Year 7 students continue to embrace everything that TRED has to offer. Students cheered on their peers with great school spirit at their first TRED Cross Country Carnival and have continued to develop their resilience skills and understanding of the teenage brain through the RIOT! (Resilience in Our Teens) program. In Wellbeing classes, the Big Yellow Umbrella program has given students valuable tools to explore their strengths, values, and self-care practices, vital skills that will serve them well now and into the future.
Academically, students have tackled their Term 2 assessment tasks across all subject areas, a real milestone as they navigate the rigour of high school assessment for the first time. It was a genuine pleasure to watch so many Year 7 students be recognised with awards at the Week 11 formal assembly. You should all be very proud of yourselves.
As with any year group finding its feet, Term 2 has not been without its challenges. In the spirit of being open and honest with our Year 7 families, there have been times this term when we have needed to redirect the cohort and reset our expectations around behaviour. We appreciate the support of our families in reinforcing these standards. Our high expectations for Year 7 come from a place of genuine belief in what this cohort is capable of and we look forward to seeing students continue striving to meet the standards of respect, safety, and engagement that we value at TRED in Term 3.
Onwards and upwards, Year 7!
Year 8 students at Thomas Reddall High School have had a successful and rewarding term, demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience, and a positive attitude across a range of activities. Students developed their musical skills through their ukulele performances, engaged thoughtfully in a film study that strengthened their analytical and communication skills, and represented their peers with enthusiasm at the Athletics Carnival. T
hroughout the term, they showed resilience by embracing challenges, supporting one another, and striving to achieve their personal best. In recognition of their hard work, positive behaviour, and commitment, students celebrated their achievements with a well-deserved excursion to Mega Mini Golf and a pizza party. We congratulate Year 8 on a fantastic term and look forward to their continued success.
Term 2 has been full of action and achievement for our Year 9 cohort! We are pleased to see so many students getting involved and excelling in extracurricular activities. Participation in the Cross Country event was outstanding, with numerous students advancing to the Zone competition. This shows the strength and determination within our cohort. Congratulations to everyone who represented our school and gave it their all!
The Athletics Carnival was another highlight, reflecting our commitment to both sport and school spirit. Year 9 students turned up in great numbers, supported their peers, and many qualified for the Zone Athletics Carnival, a fantastic accomplishment. Thank you to all who participated, cheered, and helped make these events enjoyable for everyone!
We are also seeing improvements in overall attendance throughout the year 9 cohort.
Establishing good attendance habits is important for academic progress and personal development. We encourage all students to ensure they arrive to class promptly and are always in the correct place at the right time. Consistency in attendance not only boosts your learning outcomes but also demonstrates respect for your peers and teachers.
In addition to academic and sporting achievements, positive behaviour is being recognised more than ever before. If you have maintained above 85% attendance and earned at least 10 positive entries this term, you will be invited to a special ‘All You Can Eat’ pizza party at Pizza Hut. This reward celebrates those who consistently uphold our school’s values, showing responsibility, integrity, and a positive attitude within the school community.
As winter approaches, we would like to remind all students of the importance of wearing the correct school uniform each day. Dressing appropriately for the colder weather helps everyone stay comfortable and focused, as well as demonstrating pride in our school. Jackets and jumpers should be maroon and either plain or with the school logo, no other large ‘brand’ logos. Please see your Year Advisor if you have any uniform concerns.
As we approach the end of the term, keep striving to do your best each day. Get involved, continue supporting one another, and make the most of every opportunity. We are proud of the progress Year 9 has made so far and look forward to seeing even greater achievements in the year ahead.

Year 10 Term 1 Reward Excursion
Our rewards excursion for Term 1 recognised and celebrated the positive efforts of our Year 10 students.
Students qualified for the excursion by consistently demonstrating our school's TRED values, maintaining an attendance rate above 85% throughout the term, and achieving more positive behaviour entries than negative entries. These criteria reflect the commitment, responsibility, and positive attitude that we encourage across our school community.
The day began with a visit to Mega Mini Golf in Campbelltown, where students enjoyed a friendly and entertaining round of putt putt. The course provided plenty of opportunities for fun, laughter, and healthy competition as students challenged themselves and their peers.
Following the game, we travelled to Macarthur Square where students were able to enjoy lunch and spend time socialising with friends in a relaxed environment. The excursion provided a valuable opportunity for students to be rewarded for their hard work while strengthening positive relationships with their peers and teachers.
Year 10 Students Experience University Life Through Fast Forward Program
On Wednesday May 27th, seven of our Year 10 students recently had the exciting opportunity to participate in the Fast Forward Program, run by Western Sydney University. The program is designed to inspire students to think about their future educational pathways and gain firsthand experience of university life.
Students spent the day at Western Sydney University's Kingswood campus, where they stepped into the shoes of a university student. Throughout the day, they attended a lecture, participated in a tutorial, and took part in three interactive workshops. These experiences gave students valuable insight into the expectations, opportunities, and learning environment of higher education.
The workshops encouraged students to develop their confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork skills while exploring the wide range of courses and career pathways available through university study. Students also had the chance to meet university staff and current students, helping them gain a better understanding of what life after school can look like.
The excursion was an engaging and inspiring experience that challenged students to think about their future goals and aspirations. We are proud of the students selected to represent our school and look forward to seeing how they continue to engage with the Fast Forward Program throughout the remainder of their schooling.
Year 10 Students Participate in P.A.R.T.Y. Program
A group of Year 10 students recently attended the P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth) Program at Campbelltown Hospital. The program is designed to educate young people about the potentially life-changing consequences of risk-taking behaviours and the impact that trauma and serious injuries can have on individuals, families, and communities.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of engaging and thought-provoking sessions led by healthcare professionals and emergency services personnel. They gained valuable insight into the realities of trauma care, from the emergency response through to rehabilitation and recovery.
By hearing real-life stories and learning about the experiences of patients, medical staff, and first responders, students were encouraged to reflect on the importance of making safe and informed decisions. The program highlighted how a single choice can have lasting consequences and reinforced the value of personal responsibility and risk awareness.
The excursion provided students with a unique and impactful learning experience, equipping them with knowledge and strategies to make positive choices both now and in the future. We commend our Year 10 students for their maturity, engagement, and respectful participation throughout the day.
It has been a busy and productive term for our Year 11 students. As we move through the year, I would like to remind all students of the importance of arriving at school on time each day and wearing the correct school uniform. These simple habits help students start the day positively and demonstrate pride in our school community.
Excitement is building as preparations begin for Year 12. The Year 12 jackets have now been designed and are available to purchase. Information and ordering instructions have been emailed home to families. Please remember that jacket payments are due by the end of the term to ensure orders can be finalised.
Last term, a number of our Year 11 and Year 12 students attended the End of Term Reward Excursion to the movies to watch Goat. Students represented the school exceptionally well and enjoyed a well-deserved afternoon celebrating their positive efforts throughout the term.
As we continue through the year, I encourage all Year 11 students to keep demonstrating our TRED values in the classroom, around the school and in the wider community. Students who consistently uphold these values will continue to be recognised and rewarded with opportunities to attend future reward excursions and special events.
Thank you to our Year 11 students for their ongoing efforts, and I look forward to seeing their continued growth and success throughout the remainder of the year.
Year 12 have had another busy and exciting term. Students recently organised a successful fundraising event at the Cross Country Carnival, showing great initiative and teamwork. The cohort embraced the carnival theme by dressing up as iconic duos and trios, creating a fun and vibrant atmosphere while supporting the fundraising efforts.
As part of their Year Advisor Reward Day, students enjoyed an excursion to the movies. The day provided a valuable opportunity for students to relax, spend time with their peers and celebrate their positive contributions to the school community.
Many Year 12 students have also continued to represent the school with pride through their involvement in sporting events, including volleyball and netball competitions. Their commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship were commendable and reflected the positive spirit of the cohort.
With assessments, events and preparations for life beyond school continuing throughout the year, Year 12 students have remained engaged and supportive of one another. We look forward to seeing them make the most of the many opportunities and experiences still to come in their final term of schooling.
