As the term draws to a close, students and families are encouraged to begin preparing for several important events taking place early next term. 

Year 12 Trial Examinations 

Year 12 students are reminded that the HSC Trial Examinations will commence at the beginning of next term. These examinations are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge, practise working under formal examination conditions and identify areas requiring further revision before the HSC examinations. 

Students should use the school holidays wisely by developing a realistic study timetable, revising course content and completing practice examination questions. Effective preparation involves regular, focused study rather than attempting to complete large amounts of revision immediately before an examination. 

A simple study timetable might include: 

Students should schedule short breaks, include time for rest and exercise, and divide larger topics into manageable sections. Completing timed practice responses and reviewing teacher feedback will also help students prepare confidently. 

Year 10 Fast Forward University Visit 

This term, Year 10 students participating in the Fast Forward program attended the Parramatta campus of Western Sydney University. The visit provided students with an opportunity to explore university facilities, learn about different courses and pathways, and develop a greater understanding of the range of post-school education and career options available to them. 

Students were encouraged to think about their future goals and the subjects, skills and qualifications that may help them achieve these goals. 

Subject Selection 

Students in all relevant year groups are reminded that subject selection will take place early next term. Students should begin considering their interests, strengths, future study plans and possible career pathways. 

Families are encouraged to discuss subject choices at home before the upcoming Subject Selection Evening. Students should select subjects that they are interested in, are suited to their abilities and support their future goals—not simply subjects chosen by their friends. 

Further information about the Subject Selection Evening and the selection process will be provided early next term. We look forward to working with students and families as they make these important decisions.

Year 8, 10 and 12

It has been a pleasure to return to Thomas Reddall High School in Week 6 this term following my maternity leave. I am grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with our students, staff, and families and to re-engage with the outstanding work taking place across our school community. 

I would like to sincerely thank Brad Lugg for his leadership, professionalism, and dedication during my absence. Brad worked closely with staff and students to ensure continuity across the school, and his contribution has been greatly appreciated by our entire school community. 

This term has been filled with many positive opportunities and achievements for our students. 

Recently, a group of our student leaders attended the SRC Networking Day at Campbelltown Performing Arts High School. This valuable experience allowed students to collaborate with peers from other schools, strengthen their leadership skills, and share ideas focused on student voice and school improvement. Our students represented Thomas Reddall High School with pride, respect, and enthusiasm throughout the day. 

Student wellbeing remains a key priority across our school. Students are supported by a dedicated network of staff, including Year Advisers, our School Counsellor, Student Support Officer (SSO), Learning Support Team, and NASCA staff. These teams work collaboratively to provide academic, social, and emotional support, ensuring every student is known, valued, and cared for. If your child requires additional support, we encourage families to contact the school so we can work together to assist them. 

We continue to prioritise support for students identified through the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD). Staff work collaboratively to ensure appropriate adjustments are implemented to support students in accessing learning and achieving success within the classroom. We remain committed to providing inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive. 

It has also been fantastic to see students actively engaged in their EVET courses this term. These Vocational Education and Training opportunities provide valuable industry experience, practical skill development, and pathways to future employment and further study. We are proud of the commitment and enthusiasm students have demonstrated in their chosen courses. 

Regular attendance at school is essential for academic achievement, wellbeing, social connection, and future success. Every school day provides valuable opportunities for students to engage in learning, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and resilience. We thank families for their ongoing support in promoting positive attendance habits and ensuring students arrive at school ready to learn. If you have concerns regarding your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact the school. 

Our Inclusive Education and Wellbeing Learning Support Teams have also been working closely with staff, students, families, and external stakeholders to review and update student support plans. These plans help ensure students receive the adjustments and support required to successfully participate in learning and school life. We value the strong partnerships we have with families and community agencies in creating positive and inclusive educational experiences for all students. 

Selected Year 11 students have recently participated in transition interviews with our Careers Adviser and Support Teacher Transition. These meetings provide valuable opportunities to discuss post-school pathways, explore further education, training and employment options, and identify individual goals and aspirations. The interviews are an important step in helping students make informed decisions and confidently plan for life beyond school. 

We also encourage all families and students to participate in the NSW Public School Survey. This survey provides valuable feedback about school experiences, wellbeing, and learning, helping us identify strengths and areas for improvement. Student and parent voice plays an important role in shaping our future directions, and we greatly appreciate the time taken to contribute to this important process. 

As we approach the end of the term, I would like to thank our students, staff, and families for their continued support and commitment to our school community. I look forward to continuing to work alongside you throughout the year and wish everyone a safe, enjoyable, and well-deserved holiday break.
