From the Principal

To commence our celebration of NAIDOC Week, Year 5 teachers, Rikki Allen, Teresa Fontaine and Bre Chapman led our K-12 staff in prayer during our Monday Staff Briefing.

Loving God, we come before you as a community of John XXIII, grateful for the land on which we live and learn.

We give thanks for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples whose deep connection to Country and to one another reflects your love across creation.

Bless the Elders past and present who carry the stories and wisdom of their people with strength and dignity.

Open our hearts to listen, learn, and walk together in respect and truth.

As we mark this year's NAIDOC theme, 50 Years of Deadly, may we celebrate the resilience and contributions of First Nations Australians.

May we be people who honour the sacred worth of every culture and every person.

We pray for healing of the land, of relationships, and of the wounds of the past.

May John XXIII be a place where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families always feel seen and cherished.

Strengthen us to build a future grounded in truth, solidarity, and love.

We make this prayer through Christ out Lord, and with the intercession of our founders:

Pope John XXIII            Pray for us

Ignatuis of Loyola        Pray for us

Mary Ward                     Pray for us

In last week’s Newsletter, we wished our Year 11 Pilgrimage participants well as they set off to far North Queensland last Saturday. Early reports are that the group is enjoying their immersive experience on homeland and we look forward to their return on Sunday.

This week, we wished our performing arts students and accompanying staff participating in the Arts Tour to London and Paris safe travels as they headed off to Europe on Wednesday. We also look forward to their return, when we will be eager to hear all about their wonderful experiences.

Finally, given this is the last Newsletter for Term 2 and holidays are beckoning for many, I hope you are afforded the opportunity to spend some of your own precious time with family and friends during the upcoming break. I also extend my thanks to our College community more generally for the significant contribution made throughout Semester One and I look forward to everyone’s return in Term 3.
