Spring Garden

A big thank you to Naomi Taylor for her hard work in the ELC last week, and for facilitating a gardening experience for the children. The weeds have been pulled, and the garden tidied and watered. Seeds have been planted, and the summer crops are ready to grow!

Cooperative Learning

The children have been working together in small groups to complete collaborative tasks such as puzzles, group artwork, and games. The children are learning social skills, such as teamwork, waiting for their turn, contributing to the group, and working collaboratively with many different peers.

Crash Mat

The ELC purchased a crash mat to support the children's active play, gross-motor skills, coordination, and to promote their proprioceptive input (the sense of where their bodies are in space), and vestibular input (the sense of balance and motion). The children have been challenging themselves by jumping off the high plank and landing on the crash mat.

Mrs Alyssa Cairns, ELC Teacher

4-Year-Old Kindergarten

Over the past two weeks, it has been wonderful to see the children settle back into kindergarten so smoothly after the holidays. They returned full of excitement, eager to share their holiday adventures with teachers and friends.  It was a joy to hear their stories and see their confidence in expressing themselves during their show and tell and non-verbally through individual drawings which have been displayed in the room.

Rotational Groups

This term, we have introduced small afternoon rotational groups focused on supporting school readiness.  During these sessions, the children rotate through a variety of targeted activities that help develop fine motor strength, hand-eye coordination, social skills, communication skills, numeracy and literacy extensions.

These small group activities allow for more individualised learning and explicit teaching tailored to each child’s needs.  We are so pleased with how quickly the children have adapted to the routine and are following the rotation cues with growing independence and enthusiasm.

Gardening with Naomi

A big thank you to Naomi from ELC 3 (Ariella’s mum) for volunteering her time and expertise in our ELC garden. With her help, the children have been busy weeding garden beds, preparing the soil, planting new greenery and learning to water and care for the plants.

The garden is already looking tidier, fresher, and full of life, ready for new plants to be added soon!  The children have loved being little gardeners and learning about the natural world through hands-on experiences.

Grandparents Day

We are very excited to welcome our grandparents to the kindergarten next week. ELC3 Tuesday 28 October and ELC4 Wednesday 29 October.  It’s a special time for children to share their learning space with extended family and create beautiful intergenerational memories.
