Uniform and Sense of Belonging

At Cheltenham East Primary School, we are proud of our maroon and gold colours and the sense of unity and belonging they represent. Our school uniform policy is designed to create a consistent identity across the school, ensure practicality and affordability for families, and align with our SunSmart Policy.

We’ve recently noticed an increase in students wearing non-school items such as jumpers and pants in other colours. We kindly remind families that the school uniform should be worn every day and consists of the following key items:

  • Tops: PSW Maroon and gold short or long-sleeved polo top
  • Bottoms: Maroon shorts, skorts, skirts, long maroon tracksuit or classic pants
  • Outerwear: PSW Bomber jacket, or hooded zip jacket
  • Footwear: Black shoes or sports shoes with closed toes and flat heels
  • Hats:  PSW Maroon wide-brimmed, legionnaire or bucket hat (as per our SunSmart Policy)
  • Dress - Pinafore or Summer dress

Jewellery should be limited to a watch and small studs or sleepers, and long hair should be tied back with maroon or gold accessories for health and safety reasons. We appreciate your support in helping our students represent our school proudly and safely each day.

Duty of Care and School Safety

Our staff take their duty of care responsibilities very seriously. This includes ensuring students are safe and supervised during all school hours and activities.

Please note that teachers are not on yard duty before 8:45am or after 3:40pm. Students who arrive before or remain after these times must be:

  • Enrolled in the Team Kids before or after school care program, or
  • Supervised directly by a parent or guardian while on site.

This arrangement ensures the safety and wellbeing of all students and aligns with the Department’s duty of care expectations.

For safety reasons, ball games are only permitted in designated areas — the four-square courts on the upper asphalt, the basketball courts, and the oval. This helps protect students, staff, visiting parents, and younger siblings from accidental injury during busy times in the yard.

We ask for families’ cooperation in reinforcing these messages with their children so we can maintain a safe and positive school environment for everyone.

Swimming Program Finalised

Our annual swimming program has now concluded successfully. Congratulations to all Foundation to Year 2 students who participated with enthusiasm and resilience — and to our staff for their supervision and encouragement throughout the program.

Thank you to families for your ongoing support and cooperation with organising clean and dry towels/clothes over the two-week period!

Welcome to Our Foundation 2026 Families

This week, we were delighted to welcome our 2026 Foundation families at our Information Evening on Tuesday night. It was wonderful to meet so many new families eager to begin their Cheltenham East journey.

A heartfelt thank you to our 2026 Foundation team — Mrs Waugh, Mrs Gridley, Mrs King, and Mrs Collins — for their warm hospitality and informative presentation. Their passion and professionalism set the tone for a smooth and positive transition for our newest learners. Year 1- 6 teaching teams will be communicated in the coming weeks once student numbers are finalised.

Diwali

We would like to wish all our staff and families who are celebrating Diwali next week a joyful and safe celebration.

Regards
