Principal's Desk

Dear Families,
I hope that all families enjoy the weekend ahead and the Melbourne Cup public holiday. A timely break for many as we prepare to launch into the ‘busyness’ of November and December. Please note that Monday 3rd November (Cup Eve) the school will be closed for all students. The office will not be open. Students will return to school after Cup Day on Wednesday 5th November.
We keep all Year 12 students, especially those connected to our Holy Trinity families, in our thoughts and prayers as they begin their exams today. We pray that God blesses them with calm minds, confidence in their abilities, and strength to do their best. May they feel the support of their families and community, and know that God walks with them through this important time and into the next stage of their journey.
SIMON/PAM Access
As communicated to families yesterday and again today, access to SIMON/PAM is currently restricted to onsite (school) use only. This is a system-wide issue affecting all schools, not specific to Holy Trinity, and may continue into the first half of next week. In the meantime, please report any student absences by emailing info@htws.catholic.edu.auor calling 9801 8296. We apologise for the inconvenience and will keep families informed as soon as the issue is resolved.
Learning Showcase
Thank you for your support of our showcase of learning this afternoon. It was wonderful to watch the students engage with their parents or grandparents and proudly share their learning. The afternoon was also an opportunity for parents to touch base with one another. We have already planned two of these showcases for 2026!
Class Placements for 2026
As we begin preparing for the 2026 school year, our teachers will soon start the process of placing students into class groupings in line with our Class Placement of Students Policy.
As I’m sure you can appreciate, this is a complex and thoughtful process as we work to create balanced and cohesive classes. Teachers take great care in considering each child’s academic, social and emotional needs to ensure the best possible learning environment.
We understand that the announcement of classes in December can sometimes bring mixed emotions for students and families, particularly around friendships. I ask that you trust in the teachers’ professionalism and judgement as they make decisions that are in the best interests of every child. While we cannot guarantee that children will be placed with particular friends or teachers, every effort is made to ensure that each child is well placed for a successful year ahead.
If you have any relevant information that you would like considered when placing your child, please email me directly at principal@htws.catholic.edu.au to request a Consideration for Placement of Student Form 2026.
These forms must be returned directly to me (not classroom teachers) by Friday 6 November, 2025.
Please note that:
- Any previous discussions with your child’s current teacher should now be redirected to me via this form.
- Considerations submitted in previous years will not carry over, a new form is required each year.
- Requests for specific teachers or friends will not be considered. However, information about social factors, for example, if children do not work well together, can be submitted and will be taken into account.
Finally, if your family is not planning to return to Holy Trinity in 2026, please notify the School Office as soon as possible. Accurate enrolment numbers are essential as we finalise class structures and teacher allocations for next year. Thank you for your understanding and support as we begin planning for another exciting year ahead at Holy Trinity.
40th Birthday Celebrations & KABOOM Sports
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Holy Trinity! Since our founding in 1985 we have been dedicated to providing excellence in education, fostering a vibrant learning environment, and building a strong and supportive community.
To commemorate this milestone, we have an opportunity to reflect on our rich history while looking ahead to the future. We invite students, parents, and staff to join us in celebrating four decades of learning, growth, and success. On Thursday 20th November, we will be having a 40th Birthday Party with lots of fun and activities throughout the day, followed by a family celebration after school with KABOOM Sports. Please see further in the newsletter for more details.
Marketing
We are currently developing a new marketing profile for Holy Trinity, and your feedback will play an important role in shaping it. This project includes the creation of a new school website, a review of our social media platforms, and a focus on strengthening our overall digital presence.
We invite you to take a few minutes to complete the attached survey. At the end, you’ll have the option to indicate whether you’re comfortable for us to use some of your comments as testimonials, either attributed to you or shared anonymously. Thank you for helping us showcase the warmth and strength of our Holy Trinity community.
World Teachers Day
On Friday 31st October, we acknowledge and celebrate the amazing teachers in our school.
Every day, teachers at Holy Trinity, and across the country, are making a positive difference - creating opportunities for their students, empowering the minds of young people and proudly teaching our state's future leaders, innovators and influencers. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers and support staff at Holy Trinity for the passion and dedication you bring to work each and every day. I am proud to say that I work with you, and the children and families are blessed to have you as part of their lives.
As a “Thank you” to all the teachers, the Parents’ Association will be hosting a special morning tea on Monday 10th November and they would love your help to make it a big success. Please bring a plate of goodies to share, sweet or savoury, and drop off to reception before 9am on Monday 10th November.
Yr 5/6 Writing Expo
The 5/6 students held a writing expo at the end of term 3 to celebrate their phenomenal published texts, which demonstrated students' understanding of the difficult times, emotional struggles and challenges faced by people travelling to Australia throughout history. This expo was also held to raise awareness and funds for the The Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation.
On behalf of the senior school, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and donated to this event. As a result we were able to raise a total of $408.20, which has been passed on to the The Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation.
Joke of the Week
Two monsters went to a Halloween party. Suddenly one said to the other, "A lady just rolled her eyes at me. What should I do?"
The other monster replied, "Be a gentleman and roll them back to her."
Final Thoughts~ The Power of Laughter
An essential component of having fun is laughter because it releases wonderful feel-good endorphins and neurotransmitters instantly throughout your whole body. Laughter shared between two people brings those two people closer together in an incredibly joyful exchange of delight. It does more than that too.
Laughter:
- transforms emotional states
- stimulates endorphins and creates wellbeing
- increases levels of serotonin
- is a key coping skill, especially for boys
- is an anti-bullying strategy
- encourages lightening-up in serious moments
- is a bonding experience when shared in groups
- builds inclusivity and connectedness, and secures friendships
- releases tension and stress
- is a key element in effective communication, especially in close relationships
- is an antidote to violence.
Laughter and lightness in homes and classrooms builds safety and connectedness. These are two of the most fundamental needs of every human, not just our children.
