Middle SS News

Sarah Hill

Welcome to Week 5! Thank you all for your big ‘welcome’ upon my return- it is wonderful to see your smiling faces. Thank you also for all of your hard work in my absence, for all the work you have done, banning together and of course to Amelia for her work in leading the Middle Sub School.

Toilets

Only use Middle Social Toilets: Next to the old art room or at the back of Room 10.

The Secondary toilets are to remain for Secondaries only. This is for safety reasons for Middle School students.

IEPs

Semester 2 IEP goals will need to be finalised by the end of this term.  There will be professional learning during our first PLC meeting together as a MSS in Week 6, where we will be making our IEP goals SMART and more specific to the needs of our students.

Following the timeline, I hope you found weeks 1-4 beneficial in revising each student's Semester 1 IEP goal progress to determine whether these goals need to be 'rolled over' OR if new IEP goals need to be set for Semester 2.

CTM

Please can I ask that your CTM has been populated with students' learning goals ready to discuss at your meeting.   If you would like me to be norm monitor/timekeeper/note taker, please let me know.

Yearbook Preparation

As communicated by Cathie T via email, a blurb and photos for each room are required by 13th September. Please reach out if you need support with this.

All classes should have now added their music to the Google sheet sent by Amanda.  Week 4 jobs include:

  1. Book the Yaluk building for rehearsal time with your students
  2. Continue to practise your production item. Continue working on your backdrop and/or props.
  3. Practice performing in your costumes.

Classroom Walls

It has been noted that a few classrooms have walls/cupboards that have been written on using permanent markers, pencils and so on. If this is the case, please either remove this yourself, or log it on maintenance to be removed.  Should you wish to record student heights, please utilise tape, and reinforce the message to students that we are not to write or draw on the walls.  Thanks very much for your support with this.

Excursions

Heading into this term we have excursions taking place - please ensure you remain on top of the excursion to do list ahead of time.  Be sure permission has been given by parents, the activity locator lodged and transport as well as staffing considered.  I urge you to touch base with both myself and the admin staff in the weeks leading up to the excursion to ensure you have a second set of eyes over documentation, and a sounding board to assist in planning and coordination of the excursion.

Term 3 Assemblies

Please see below for the allocation of assemblies in Term 3.

Week 6: Room 14 & 18

Week 8: Rooms 12, 15 & 16

ICT Supervision

Please be vigilant in supervising students on iPads and laptops in classrooms. Explicit content is making its way more than ever into what looks like child friendly videos and music. Please, as much as possible do your due diligence and double check content is appropriate.

SSGs

SSG’s have now finished. Please can you follow up with any families who have not responded and record communications in students' files.  Let me know if you would like me to attend by sending me a calendar invite.
