The Summer Competition runs over Term 4 and Term 1.

Age groupings change for this season, too:

U10: 2016 & 2017 born

U12: 2014 & 2015 born

U14: 2012 & 2013 born

U16: 2010 & 2011 born

Seniors must be in Year 7 or above.

Division 1 Mens

What a big week last week was! We had begun with the big victory over Jakabytes (reported in last week’s Newsletter) and had two more games.

Last Thursday night, we played Rams in the game postponed from the Sheepvention weekend. We struggled for fluency early on and were behind 1-2 before we began to take more control of the game. In the end, we led 5-3 approaching the final whistle before we conceded a goal right on full-time, leaving the scoreline 5-4 in our favour. Jack Jarvis and Ciaran Nelson each scored twice, and Tom Templeton, who played a super game, scored the other.

Last Sunday, we rounded off the week with a very good 3-1 victory over the Demons. With several away at university Open Days, we called up Hugh Stratmann to play his first senior game and Old Collegian Emma Robertson from the A Grade women’s team. Hugh did very well, and Emma was a stalwart in defence, but our whole team played with determination and spirit. Still, we were one short, and our opponents had four on the bench. We defended well and were able to launch counter-attacks. Our goalscorers were Harry Brown, Isaac Shaw and Jake Alexander. Isaac’s game was top-class, whilst Jake is a great team player - I suspect no goal this season has been more popular than the one he scored, besides the post precisely as he should have been.

One game remains before the finals - we play Couldabeens this weekend in what is likely to be a preview of the following week’s game. It would be great to see you there cheering the boys on!

Netball

TERM 4 Saturday competition

A committee has been formed to get the Saturday com competition at Petrina Park to run again. There is currently a signup form/link on Teams for the students to fill in if they want to play. They must do this, knowing that they need to commit to the full season of seven weeks. There will be no game on the Melbourne Cup long weekend, and the season finishes before the school term. (October the 12th - November the 30th.)

There are two categories for the senior campus: Year 7s and 8s and Years 9 - 12. (Year 12s don’t usually play in Term 4, but they can if they wish.)

We hope to enter as many teams as possible. The entry due date is very soon, so if you are willing to help, please touch base with me ASAP.

If students have already paid their VNA fees, the price will be $45 to cover the courts and the umpires. If VNA has not been paid, fees will only cover the student for this term, and the price will be $111. VNA works on a calendar year.

We are also looking for parents who would be willing to be an umpire on the day or a team manager. The manager role primarily only involves scoring.
