The weather gods have been smiling upon us this term, and we have been able to proceed with a fairly uninterrupted term of Horsemanship. It’s great to see such enthusiastic students come each week and put their skills into place when they compete out and about on weekends.
To further support our students in their whole horsemanship skills, next Friday 30 August we have Kristabel Lewis, equine vet and Sarah Bull, equine nutritionist coming to give a talk about horse health and supportive nutrition. This is a free event and highly recommended for all equine students. It will be at the Equestrian Centre from 4-5.30pm where we will conclude with a pizza dinner - just in time for students to go and see College Has Got Talent!
RSVP: For catering purposes, please RSVP by Thursday 29 August, 3.30pm to equestrian@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au
Next Monday, 26 - 28 August, Year 8 and 9 Equine students will be off on camp, putting skills acquired in class into place as they spend the three days on horseback. Last year was the first time this camp ran and it was an absolute highlight for the students involved. Stay tuned for a comprehensive wrap up on our return.
Finally, we are very excited to announce our newest four-legged staff member – Mick! Many of you will have seen Mick out and about as he belongs to a local family. It’s a bit of a home coming for him as he did spend some time at college with his previous owner, an ex college student. Mick is a seasoned performer in both dressage and jumping and is available to hire for horsemanship lessons. If you’ve ever wanted to try riding, now’s the ideal time as Mick is the perfect partner to learn from. We are forever grateful to our wonderful instructor, Judy, who put us on to this lease. Mick will be at college until the end of the year.
Have you been out and about lately? We would love you to share your results, news and photos to equestrian@hamitoncollege.vic.edu.au
Thank you to everyone who lets us know if they are going to miss a lesson or would like to leave a horse in the yards outside of their normal lesson day. A reminder that it is important that you notify us of either thing to ensure that we are aware of who is coming in and out of the Equestrian Centre and also let instructors know if someone is going to be away. It is important that you don’t let the instructor know directly, as they are not always fully aware of changes during the day.
You can advise us via email equestrian@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au or via the Equestrian Centre mobile number 0429 624 928.
Thank you for your support.
