Each year on September 1st, we require students to have their broad brimmed school hats with them each school day. Our SunSmart policy supports this direction and the focus of this policy is to protect students and staff from the damaging rays of the Australian sun. A name on the hat is a great idea and for $18 you can purchase a suitable hat from our office.
This Sunday is Father’s Day. It is a special day for father’s and special people in all our lives. The celebration occurs at different times across the world. I hope your weekend is an extra special one and that Father’s Day is an opportunity to share your Sunday with someone special.
Our Father’s Day stall at school, operated by the Parent Committee and the many volunteers, allowed our students to purchase a gift to celebrate this special day. Congratulations to all our volunteers and to the PC organising team who make sure these special days are to be enjoyed by everyone.
This morning we held a very successful Father’s day breakfast hosted by the hard working parent committee team. Thanks to everyone involved in this event and for making our school community such a special one to belong to.
Today a number of our staff worked with a consultant from Sydney, Michele Lacoste. This work is designed to support pedagogy in our classes and ensure we are constantly looking at ways to improve the learning for students and teachers at CJC.
Term 3 finishes on 20th September at 2.30pm. Please note the earlier finish time and access the services of TeamKids (after school care) if you need.
Term 4 begins on Monday 7th October.

Our Book Fair has been operating in the SLC this week and there are many titles worth checking out and perhaps adding to the home libraries for your children or presenting as a gift to someone special in your family.
The annual Parent Opinion Survey has been sent to families and it will close shortly. We ask families who have not completed the survey to add their opinions and feedback so we can use this information to enhance our work, refine our processes and provide an even better learning environment. Thanks to those families who have already completed the survey.
Year 3 and 4 camp, at Camp Rumbug, begins next Wednesday 4th of September and finishes on Friday 6th September.
Our lost property collection continues to grow and the warmer (and windier) weather means these jackets and tops are left behind at the end of the recess and lunch breaks.
After school we have a collection of families who stay behind and play in the yard. Seeing our children actively playing and using the spaces creates a positive feeling in our playground.
After school activities have priority on these spaces in the school and must not be impacted by our children, using the playground, who are not part of the after school programs (TeamKids, Soccerwise , EFM).
School rules, policies and expectations apply to everyone who comes on site and is part of the community. Please make sure your children are always supervised, play appropriately and take home all their belongings and snack containers.

Good afternoon,
We are delighted to share the news that two esteemed pedagogical consultants, Michèle Lacoste and Isabelle Savary, from Lycée Condorcet in Sydney, worked closely with our teachers on Thursday and today. This collaborative effort provided an invaluable opportunity for our educators to engage in professional development activities that are essential for advancing our teaching methodologies.
These sessions, rich in diversity, focused on the AAFEBS (Australian Association of French English Bilingual Schools) projects, in partnership with Auburn High School. The topics covered were diverse and highly relevant to our educational context, including Webmedia, Oral Skills in a Bilingual Context, Neurosciences, and Grammar Skills.
Each of these topics is crucial in enhancing our bilingual education experience at Caulfield Junior College. The emphasis on oral skills in a bilingual context, for example, helps our students become more proficient in both languages, while the integration of neuroscientific principles into grammar instruction supports a deeper understanding of language learning processes.
These professional development sessions were conducted in French and tailored to our French-speaking staff. Michèle Lacoste and Isabelle Savary's expertise has provided our teachers with new insights and strategies that will undoubtedly benefit our students.
We eagerly anticipate the positive impact of this collaboration in our classrooms and look forward to continuing to work closely with our partners to ensure the highest quality of bilingual education.
