Book Week – Author Visits 

Last week, Year 6 students were treated to a special visit from renowned author, Morris Gleitzman. Many of our students are very familiar with Gleitzman’s work, including his well-loved series Once, Then, Now, After, Soon and Maybe. Morris spoke to the students about his family, in particular his Jewish grandfather who grew up in Krakow, Poland and how this was the catalyst for his writings. 

This week, we look forward to having Mark Greenwood speak to Years 5 and 6 about his many works including the History Mysteries series, Jandamarra with Terry Denton and Simpson and his Donkey with Frane Lessac.  

Year 6 STEM Gala Day 

Following the success of the event in 2023, we are again pleased to be providing Year 6 students with the opportunity to attend a STEM Gala Day, hosted by Santa Sabina College on Wednesday 4 September. This excursion will provide students with the opportunity to complete a range of activities which are centred on key concepts within the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Our students will work together with Years 5 and 6 students from Santa Sabina College to try and solve the different challenges they are presented with on the day.  

Students will be required to make their own way to and from Santa Sabina College on the day of the excursion. Students may catch public transport, walk to Santa Sabina from Strathfield Station, or they can be dropped off by car at their equivalent ‘Kiss and Ride’ area on Jersey Road. All students will need to arrive by 8:45 AM and meet at the Santa Sabina School Hall (to the left of the Chapel). The day will conclude at 2:30 PM and students will also need to make their own way home from Santa Sabina College. Year 6 parents/carers are asked to acknowledge consent for their son to attend via TASS by Friday 30 September.
