From Saturday 10 August 2024 to Friday 16 August 2024, three SPC students, Anthony del Popolo, Vincent Pappalardo and Sebastian Natalegawa, competed in the School Sport National Diving Championships in Adelaide. Anthony won three silver medals in Springboard, Knockout and Synchro, Sebastian placed First in the 12-Year-Old Springboard event, and Vincent placed Third the 14-Year-Old Springboard and Seventh in Platform.
Australian National Champion
Further congratulations must go to Dante Barbanera who won a Gold Medal in the Australian Jiu Jitsu Championship in Melbourne over the weekend, making him a 4x National Champion for his division. This is an incredible achievement, and we are all very proud of you, Dante!
Tennis
Congratulations to the Division 2 and Division 10 Tennis teams as they competed in the ISA Finals over the weekend. While both teams lost on the day, reaching the final in a shortened season is a fantastic achievement and something they should all be very proud of!
Rugby
Thank you to everyone who came along to Back to Breen Day on Saturday! The sun finally showed up and despite a few cancellations, it was great to see so many boys representing SPC on the field and giving it their all. A huge shout out to the 15A team as they managed to pick up a win against very strong opposition. While many of the other results did not go our way, the effort was certainly there. One more match boys, let’s put our best foot forward and make our families proud as we travel north to show them how tough we are in Strathfield.
Football
While the First XI got knocked out in a very strong contest against St Pius X, we have many teams who are off to the Grand Final this weekend. Congratulations to the Fourth XI, 16A, 15A, 15B, 15C, 15D, 14A, 14C, 14D, 13A, 13B, 13C, 13D, 13E and 13G Football Teams who are off to the big dance this Saturday. Enjoy the week boys, always remember that playing competitive sport is a privilege and that grand finals do not come around every day. A reminder that when the pressure is on, and tension is high, cool heads prevail! All players, coaches and families are reminded to focus on the positives of SPC players and not on the other team or referee. Best of luck boys, we are proud of you already!
Any boy who travels to support their mates MUST wear their College Supporters uniform, wear it loud and proud!
