Students Learn Sustainable Lessons at Wangarang

Over the past several weeks, our students have had the unique opportunity to visit Wangarang, a local supported workplace for people with disabilities, as part of our ongoing commitment to community service and environmental stewardship. This experience has been both educational and inspiring, providing our students with a firsthand look at the importance of recycling and the value of inclusive workplaces.

Each week, a different class has made the trip to Wangarang to deliver wheelie bins filled with recyclable containers generously donated by our school community. The contents of each wheelie bin are worth approximately $25, and our students have been actively involved in the process, from collecting the donations to delivering them to Wangarang.

During their visits, students have gained valuable workplace skills and learned about the behind-the-scenes process of recycling. They have had the chance to tour the facilities and see how the recyclables are sorted and processed, all while working alongside the dedicated team members at Wangarang. This experience has not only taught them about the recycling process but also highlighted the importance of supporting inclusive workplaces and the significant contributions that people with disabilities make to our community.

Our students have returned from each visit with a deeper understanding of the impact of their actions and a greater appreciation for the work done by the Wangarang team. This partnership has not only helped reduce waste and promote sustainability but has also fostered a sense of community and inclusion among our students.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their enthusiasm and commitment to this project, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Wangarang in the future. Thank you to all the parents and local residents who have supported this initiative by donating recyclable containers. Your contributions are making a positive difference in our community!
