In the past four months, the number of responses to our Parent/Carer/Guardian Opinion Survey has increased ten-fold to 30%. There are still a few weeks left for you to respond, if you haven’t already.
Your feedback will be considered by the team as we plan our future direction, so we appreciate you taking 20 minutes to respond. Please click here or scan the QR code to access the survey. You will need to enter our unique school PIN: 274776.
A summary of the feedback will be provided once the survey closes at the end of the term.
The response to the Father’s Day Breakfast was indicative of the strong community culture at Ormond Primary School. From the work of the organising committee to arrange the coffee and cakes, to the planning time and energy that went into preparing the classrooms by the staff and the students, everybody pulled together to create a welcoming and celebratory environment for the important people in our students’ lives.
There was a fantastic atmosphere around the school on the morning and it was pleasing to see so many father’s leaving after drop-off with smiles on their faces and (in the case of the Prep parents) crowns on their heads.
Ormond Primary School are delighted to be partnering with Real Schools as we continue to build the culture of high expectations. The staff will engage in a full day of professional learning on Friday, August 16th and the team will host a parent seminar, beginning at 6pm on September 12th.
The Buildings and Grounds Subcommittee of School Council are inviting expressions of interest from local people and organisations who are interested in working with us on improving our green spaces around the school. This paid role will be developed in consultation with the successful candidate. While no specific experience or training is required, interested parties should have an interest in, and knowledge of, sustainable gardening practices, and a proven ability to consider the input of students is preferred.
For more information, please contact Patrick Halpin by email: Patrick.Halpin@education.vic.gov.au. The Buildings and Grounds Subcommittee will consider all expressions of interest received and will make a recommendation to School Council at our meeting early in Term 4.
We currently have an integration aide position advertised on recruitment online; a Certificate III (or above) qualification in a relevant area is preferred but not essential. All interested parties should apply via Recruitment Online. Please contact Patrick Halpin by emailing Patrick.Halpin@education.vic.gov.au for more information.
All government primary schools are expected to complete at least one emergency drill per term. In the next fortnight, the Ormond Primary School community will practise two lockdown drills. The first of these will take place on Monday, September 9th and the second will be held in the following days, providing an opportunity for all staff and students to implement the learnings from our first practice. We will send out a reminder via Compass and your child may speak about their experience when they get home from school. This is an opportunity to proactively prepare for the unlikely event of an actual emergency.
Thank you to the staff for all their work and support of the students as we prepare for our Student-Led Conferences, which are scheduled for Tuesday, September 10th and Wednesday, September 11th.
These conferences provide your child with an opportunity to formally present their learning to you, as well as their progress towards their individual goals.
