Newsletter Term 3 Week 5
Dear Parent and Carers,
We are almost through the halfway point of the term and looking ahead to Spring in a few weeks. Some of our big events are rapidly approaching with the concert, Literacy and Numeracy Week celebrations and Father's Day all falling in close succession.
Concert
Excitement is building for the concert. Tickets are selling quickly and there is an enormous effort from staff, students and parents to ensure the concert will be a huge success.
The props department is working overtime to ensure the acts really pop on stage and the musical numbers are being refined to keep the feet tapping throughout the night.
As we approach the concert week, we do know this will trigger a variety of responses from the students. Please remain calm in the lead up and support your child in the most positive way you can. We know from past experience that the vast majority of students who feel anxious leading up to an event like this are really proud of their efforts if they persist and have a go on the night. If your child is feeling worried or anxious, please chat to your child’s teacher and they will be only too happy to assist.
In two weeks our Grade 5 students travel to Halls Gap for 2 nights for their Grade 5 camp. I will be attending this camp, leaving Mrs Cooper, Mrs Lindsay and Mr Columbro in charge of the school.
National day against bullying and violence
On Friday 16th August we will be running a program recognising the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. This day is a lead up to the messaging we have been promoting around the school in classes and at assemblies.
It will begin in the assembly on Friday morning and
will follow through some activities in the classroom.
Mobile Phones at School
It has been widely advertised over the past few years that mobile phones in school can be major distractions to the learning process but also create major issues if used inappropriately. It is for this reason that all schools are required to have a Mobile Phone Policy. The Delacombe Primary School Policy can be found in the link below.
The policy states that:
- Students who require their phone at school must have parent permission.
- All mobile phones brought to school must be kept in a secure location.
- If students require their phone on them during the day, they must seek approval from school leadership.
- Breeches of the mobile phone policy fall within the Acceptable use of Technology guidelines
