We had an incredible time during our Book Week celebrations held last Friday!
The creativity on display was amazing—both staff and students pulled out all the stops with their incredible costumes.
Thank you to the parents and carers who joined us and added to the excitement. Special thanks to the Salt Coffee Van for keeping everyone fuelled with delicious coffee throughout the morning.
Congratulations to Kinder student, Sam B, for his keen eye in finding the green sheep in Mr. Resus’s puddings and a huge thank you to our Librarian, Mrs Winter, for organising such a memorable event.
Check out our photo gallery for all the highlights. And, can you spot Wally (Mr Jolliffe) in the crowd?
Our Secondary students recently celebrated National Science Week. This year's theme was 'Species Survival - more than just sustainability.' In Years 7 and 8, we learnt about current research projects that use drones to catch whale snot for health testing. We were then able to test 'samples' from whales Blubber, Squirt, Splash and Finn for a range of health indicators. Students in Years 9 and 10 participated in an escape room challenge where they had to complete activities and piece together the clues to save the animals from escaping the zoo. Each morning in AM we were reminded that God is the giver and sustainer of life, and there was a topical trivia question with the quickest student from each year group winning a Cadbury 'furry friend.' Congratulations to all of the winners! Unfortunately, we had to postpone the special lunchtime demonstration due to the weather, but watch this space for a report to come. Thanks to all of our Science teachers for their hard work to make our Science lessons both informative and fun.
Kindergarten was very excited to celebrate 100 Days of Kindergarten in Week 2 this term. We used 100’s and 1000’s to decorate biscuits kindly baked by Mrs Varga and we walked the red carpet to show our amazing t-shirts, each decorated with 100 items. Some of the t-shirts included pompoms, stickers, balloons, beads and sparkles.
We visited each of the Kindergarten rooms and worked with the number 100 in many ways throughout the day. We measured things that were 100cm tall, made collections of 100 and even did 100 exercises.
A few students felt that having reached such an important milestone meant they were ready for Year 1, but the teachers all agreed we’d like them to stay with us for a bit longer yet. Congratulations Kindergarten on a fabulous achievement and a wonderful day of celebration!
Recently our Year 5 and 6 girls netball team went to Penrith to represent NCS and the South Coast Zone at the State Netball Gala Day. The girls played a phenomenal day of netball, winning all 5 of their pool round matches. They scored a massive 68 goals across those 5 games and only had 14 goals scored against them.
After being down 4:1 at half time in the quarter final, the girls rallied together and came out with a 3 goal win, to progress onto a very closely contented semi-final. With a draw at the end of full time, they then went on to play two lots of extra time, and came away with a semi-final win by 1 goal.
After a massive 8 games of netball, a chant that got louder with every game, lots of red frogs and sugar for energy, and huge amounts of cheering from family and friends, the girls came 2nd overall. They were awarded the title of 2024 State Runner’s Up, our best ever achievement in primary school netball.
Not only did the girls play superb netball on the day, but they demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship. They encouraged and supported each other, they never gave up, even when they were losing, and they played kindly and fairly all day. On multiple occasions we had players from the opposition comment to us that they enjoyed playing against our team and that our players were nice to play against.
Congratulations girls! We are super proud of your achievements, but even prouder of the character you showed on the day and the way you represented our school and demonstrated your faith through the way you played the game of netball.
