Learning in S32

Games are in full swing in S32.

Over the last few weeks, students in S32 have been researching, drafting and publishing an information report on a past Olympic Games. They used the official Olympic website to research stories from their chosen games, athletes that were successful, what the torch and medals looked like and the overall medal results. 

Here are some things we have learnt about our past Olympic Games:

Elijah - My Olympics in 1896 was the very first modern Olympic Games. 
Iqra - In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Michael Phelps won many gold medals.
Mahira - In the 1948 London Olympics, Australia won 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Ruby - Australia only won 1 bronze medal in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
Levi - In the Tokyo 2020 games Rayssa Leal was the youngest Brazilian ever to compete at the games. She was 13 years old and won silver in skateboarding. 
Mason - In Los Angles 1984 Olympics, Carl Lewis was the most successful athlete. 
Shakira - There were 5 mascots in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Jasmine - Sadly, 9 competitors were killed in the 1972 Munich games in a terrorist attack.
Dylan - In the 1952 Olympics, American came first. 
Ellie - Amy Van Dyken won 4 gold medals at the 1996 Atlanta games.
Daniel - In the 1976 Montreal games, there were more women hockey players than men.
JoJo & Kiara - In the 1908 London Olympics, Will Foster received 1 gold medal in swimming.
Thea - The USA won 99 medals in the 1924 Paris Olympics.
Kenzie - Alexi Nemov won 6 medals in Gymnastics for Russia. 
Jaimee - In Paris 1900, Irving Baxter won 2 gold and 3 silver in athletics in high jump and pole vault. 
Jake - In the 1932 Olympics in LA, United States won overall with 110 medals. 
Lorna - In the 2004 Athens Olympics, Australia won 17 gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze medals.
Teleah - In the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Matthew Biondi received 7 medals in swimming for the USA. 
Blake - Michael Jordan won gold in the Barcelona 1992 Olympics. 
Zynah - Marjorie Jackson was the first woman to win gold at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
