SRC Camp
Last week I had the absolute pleasure of attending Concord School’s Student Representative Council (SRC) Camp to DOXA Camp in Malmsbury. Our SRC comprises of students from Upper Primary to Secondary 11/12, so it was wonderful to see students aged from 10 – 18 years old come together away from the school setting. The group slept in multi-age rooms and everyone demonstrated independence and responsibility when staying with each other.
This camp aimed to develop students’ ability to persist, demonstrate initiative, work as a team and communicate effectively. Our itinerary ensured that the students could practice these skills as we enjoyed many fabulous experiences:
- Leadership and Teamwork challenges
- Giant Swing
- Low Ropes Course
- Bushwalking
- Archery
- Campfire Cooking – damper and roasting marshmallows
- Trivia Night
- Movie Night
I’d like to thank Kirsten, Lachlan, Angela and Karen J for attending the camp and enabling our SRC students to be the best they can be!
Think U Know – Presentation from the Police
Secondary 7/ 8 students had a visit from Nicole, a Police Youth Liaison Officer.
Nicole spoke about cyber bullying and cyber safety, providing students with an understanding of how to be safe online and the dangers of talking to unknown people through social media. Students were reminded to tell a trusted adult, as well as block and delete. One important fact that Nicole highlighted was that cyberbullying is a crime that can be reported to the police. Students were encouraged to be kind using social media, as well as to report bullying to a trusted adult.
The Think U Know website has many resources that may help support your child at home.
