A successful first half

Capturing the spirit of our Year 12 cohort!

Our special last moments with Year 12 have begun. As the end of the year for Year 12

draws closer every day, we find ourselves amidst a bittersweet moment, the last group photo!

These young individuals have journeyed with us through trials and triumphs and are almost at a new chapter in their lives.

These photographs not only capture the spirit of our wonderful year group but highlight the dedication of their talented team of year advisers, Mr Faga, Mrs Eleazar, and Ms Li Donni.

CAPA! A night of Musical Mastery with Year 11 and 12 Music Students

Our Music night showcased the immense musical prowess and artistic flair of our budding year 11 and 12 musicians. The repertoire featured a diverse array of musical genres, each performed with passion and precision.

It was a testament to the countless hours of practice and dedication from our stage 6 students.

Thank you to Mr Faga, Miss Bai and the CAPA team for providing this opportunity for our students.

Year 12 Photography Excursion to the City

Year 12 Photography students went on an excursion to Sydney CBD to look at the SHOT Exhibition (300 years of photographs from the library archives) at the State Library of NSW. They walked around Martin Place, Botanical Gardens and Circular Quay, while using their manual SLR photographic skills to take photos for their recent assessment task.

The excursion was good for students to practice using the manual settings on SLR cameras in different lighting and using photo film. Students had fun using their creativity in different settings. Thank you to Mrs Lopez and Mrs Maniti for providing this wonderful opportunity for our students.

Year 12 Physics students extend themselves through quality assessments

Our Year 12 students extended themselves by making some fabulous motors out of any

 rubbish they could find.

This activity formed a part of their second assessment task this year along with an analysis of their models. The demonstrations were fuelled with both excitement, enthusiasm, and relief.

A big undertaking for our very talented Physics students. Thank you to Mr Brame for supporting our Year 12 students.

Future In Focus - Our lucky Year 12 students!

Well, done to Mrs Reid and our fabulous Careers team. I certainly agree with Mrs Reid's comments on this very valuable program: “Career pathway concepts have been widened, future aspirations lifted, authentic, career cluster personal stories shared, conversations held, industry networks created, and future work opportunities provided”.

I would like to extend my thanks to the wonderful guest speakers and our dynamic and very hard-working Careers Team for making the 2024 Future In Focus Day an enormous success for our students.

Year 12 Biology Incursion

Year 12 were very excited to have the opportunity to use cutting edge technology to create transgenic bacteria in the classroom last week.

The resources were provided and sponsored by The University of Sydney. Thank you to Matt Clough for providing a very engaging experience for our students.

NSW Police Open Day

Several of our students had the opportunity to participate in the NSW Police Open Day

 this term.

Thank you to Abdul Barghachoun in Year 12 for this wonderful account of the day:

"On Thursday 9th May, I went to Cabramatta Police Station with Mr Nicholas Chambour, Mrs Shery Le, and Year 11 students Sadeer Al-Zuhairi and Racquel Hughes, to learn about the ins and outs of policing as a career.

I liked the way they showed us the Police station and vehicles, weapons and charge room. I really enjoyed the day and learnt a lot from it. Thank you to Mr Chambour, Ms Shery, and NSW Police. "

Year 9 and 10 CAPA Music Evening: A showcase of talent!

Well done to our year 9 & 10 students that performed at the Music evening this term.

There was a huge array of talent, and we are very proud of our students.

The students that performed in year 9 and 10 were,  Eilija, Dalara, Talia, Yvonne, Eliana, Julianna, Lonnisa, Grace, Jade, Chris, Coby, Angeline, Avalynne, Evelyn, Tyson, Paige, Vivien, Elaine, Jimmy, Aaron, and Paige.

Year 12 Greater Western Sydney Careers Market

As the year progresses, the minds of many of our Year 12 students are consumed with the looming question: What comes next? What do they do when they leave the Cecil bubble? The prospect of higher education or vocational training becomes increasingly important.

The Western Sydney Careers Expo offered invaluable insights and resources to aid our year 12 students in their decision-making process and really showed there is something for everyone. It made me very proud as the Year 12 Deputy Principal to watch their proactive approach to planning their academic and professional futures, a testament to their maturity and ambition.

What a great group of students! Thank you to Mrs Reid, for her wonderful organisation.

Our wonderful Year 8 cohort

Thank you to all teachers for supporting year 8 students this term. Teachers continue to go above and beyond to look after the wellbeing of our students. Students have been busy completing English, Geography, Science and Maths tasks in the last 3 weeks, and they have received extensive feedback from their teachers. Upcoming assessment tasks for year 8 are an English task in week 10. I am looking forward to our up-and-coming wellbeing talks for the boys and girls and meeting many parents/carers at our Parent and Teacher Night on Tuesday 2nd of July between 3pm and 7pm.
