Some student reflections:
As a Year 11 Vocational Major VCE student, I had the chance to go to the Grand Prix with my friends, and it was an unforgettable experience. We traveled there by train, and the excitement started the moment we boarded. Once we arrived, we were given an hour of free time to explore and watch the race. I grabbed some chips, and while we were enjoying them, the cars zoomed past super loud and thrilling! The sound of the engines was intense, but it just added to the excitement. Cheering on our favourite drivers with my friends made it even more memorable. It was the perfect mix of racing, fun, and tasty snacks!

As a Coburg High School student, I never imagined I’d get so close to the world of Formula 1, but F1 Thursday on March 13 was an unforgettable experience. From watching Porsche race cars tear around the track to exploring career pathways in motorsport, the day was a perfect mix of thrills, speed, and opportunity.
Our day started with a train and tram ride to the event, building excitement with every stop as more F1 fans joined the commute. The anticipation grew as we neared the track, and by the time we arrived, the distant roar of engines let us know we were in for something special.
One of the highlights was seeing the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars push their limits on track. The deep growl of the engines, the smell of burning rubber, and the sheer speed made for an electrifying atmosphere. Watching them handle corners with such precision gave me a whole new appreciation for racing.

Melbourne, Australia – March 14, 2025 – Racing fans from across the country flocked to the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Albert Park this weekend, as the city hosted one of the most anticipated motorsport events of the year. Among the attendees were Year 11 students who traveled by train to witness the high-speed action and immerse themselves in various hands-on experiences.
One highlight of the event was an interactive simulation allowing attendees to step into the driver’s seat of an F1 car. Fans tested their skills in a virtual racing game equipped with a steering wheel, brakes, and realistic driving mechanics. The activity provided a thrilling taste of the precision and speed required in professional racing.
Beyond the virtual experience, visitors engaged with exhibits showcasing the latest in motorsport technology, car engineering, and racing culture. The event, sponsored by luxury brand Louis Vuitton, blended high-performance racing with premium hospitality and entertainment.
The Melbourne Grand Prix continues to be a major draw for motorsport enthusiasts, blending world-class competition with engaging fan experiences. With the 2025 season now in full swing, excitement is already building for next year’s event.

Politics
The Year 11 Politics classes visited the State Parliament of Victoria for a tour and to learn about how Victoria's political system works. Politics students gained special privileged access to gather in the Upper House (otherwise known as the Legislative Council), where they participated in a debating activity. In this debating activity, students grouped into fictional political parties to plan and then enact a debate around a key contemporary state issue. Additionally, students enjoyed the marvellous architecture at Parliament. Overall, students faced their fears of public speaking when debating and there was great enthusiasm displayed amongst students.

Year 9/10 Boys Volleyball
On Tuesday the 1st of April, our Year 9/10 Boys Volleyball Team competed in the Northern Metro Regional Round Robin Tournament at Diamond Valley Sport and Fitness Centre.

1 set to 2 sets (loss)
Round 2. Coburg v Lalor SC

It was incredible to see the boys develop from their initial performance during the Divisional Tournament, to witness the increased confidence levels and strategic play in each of the matches played at the Regional level.
The highlight of the day was definitely when our boys won the second set against Eltham, every school in the vicinity of our match were cheering our boys on with each point that they won. The support for the boys was amazing and they rose to the occasion!
A massive thank you to Coach Lucas W, for his dedication and expertise in coaching the Intermediate Boys Volleyball team for the second consecutive year. The knowledge and development you have provided to each player has been truly next level.
