What’s Happening in Careers?
I was able to attend the annual CDAA Career Connect Conference at Notre Dame University on Friday, 9 February. This is a really important event as it is the first time we hear from all of the universities about what the year holds and any major changes, as well as updates from TISC and information about the future of work. The attached newsletter at the bottom of the page has a good write-up of the information shared. There are some great new courses and assured pathways.
TISC
TISC will open on 3 June.
Early Offers will start after the Semester One exams and most offers are conditional on meeting requirements. These will be laid out in their offer letters. The first round of Year 12 Early Offers will be on Monday 1 September, followed by Monday 22 September, Monday 13 October, Monday 24 November, and Wednesday 3 December.
Your TISC application is your Early Offer application – you will automatically be considered for your first preference. Most Early Offers will be made based on Year 11 results.
We have TISC coming to present on 6 May and I will run sessions with the boys on completing their preferences following their Semester 1 exams.
If students are intending to apply for university, they will need to apply through TISC. Registration is online and a fee of $95 is payable before they can set up their preferences. These preferences can be changed as many times as they like before the Offers round.
Offers will be out before Christmas.
University Information
The universities have all listed their Open Days – put them on the calendar now! It is really important that the boys get on campus and ask lots of questions before they make final decisions.
The universities will be at Mazenod to provide information to the boys in MyPath sessions and will be in attendance at our Mazenod MyPath Careers Expo on 24 June. Year 12 students will also have the opportunity to book individual consultations with university course advisors on campus here on 8 August.

Medicine and Dentistry
There are a few more requirements for students planning to apply for medicine. These students have been asked to let me know their intention so that I can make sure they get the information they need. We have had a representative from Curtin speak to these boys about the process. There are a number of options to study in this field, so it is worth coming in to see me to discuss these.
MyFuture Resource
Students have access to My Future Resources. There is a wealth of information on this site, where students can explore in depth to find out more about the careers and industries they are interested in. It has job seeker resources like resume and cover letter templates, tips for writing cover letters and job applications, and preparing for job interviews, as well as information for parents and carers to help you support your child to learn about the world of work and explore careers.

Year 10
The Year 10 students have all logged in to MyFuture and completed profiling activities to identify areas of strength and interest and how these might make them a good fit for particular career areas. They have also had an opportunity to explore a number of careers through the online resources. Ask them about this and have a look with them!
Year 11
The Year 11 group have been introduced to the course for 2025 and how to seek help as they progress through the process. They have also accessed MyFuture resources which they will use this year.
Year 12
These boys have been given an overview of key dates and how the course will be structured this year. They also have been provided access to MyFuture resources.
