Principal Message

Dear Families,
Apple Fair: The big day and event of the year is nearly here! The Apple Fair committee have done an extraordinary job in building this event and to make it a success, we NEED YOU! Bring family, friends, neighbours and anyone else along to showcase our school community this SUNDAY from 11am or earlier if you can help with set up. We still have plenty of volunteer roles left to fill – check out the available spots on the Apple Fair page of the newsie. You can put your name down for any shift – you don’t need a child in that year to help with the grade level activities.
The weather will do what it wants, so ignore that and make the day one that adds value to the community and school. It’s the day we capture the community spirit, meet and make new friendships and raise a few dollars for the school. The money raised will be going directly into the playground area to the north of the soccer pitch. We will be combining the money raised with a grant from the Department of Education to refurbish and replacement various parts of the playground that are long overdue for some TLC.
NAPLAN: This week the Years 3 & 5 students began participating in the Literacy and Numeracy testing held across Australia. We know that these tests do not showcase the talents of the artists, athletes, musicians, actors, performers etc, only the literacy and numeracy skills. As always, we celebrate their achievements and use the data to continue planning, assessing and delivering high quality curriculum programs. Thanks to all families for preparing your students with a good night’s sleep, healthy food and having them ready to perform. Thanks to all staff who administer the tests and support the learners to do their best.
High Abilities: This year, Mrs H has been working with a range of students that have been identified as having High Ability in certain areas of the curriculum. Families involved will be contacted by Mrs H for these further opportunities via Sentral (permissions and some info) and sometimes via the school email for reminders etc.
Division Swimming: Congratulations to all our incredible swimmers for their outstanding efforts on Tuesday! Whether you achieved a personal best, placed in your race, or simply gave it your all, you should be proud of your hard work and commitment. Well Done!
CCTV Policy: Just a reminder that we have around 30 CCTV cameras that capture a range of interesting things across the school grounds. They have helped solve various issues over weekends and after hours and occasionally during school hours. So, if you are onsite, please be aware that there are cameras, the recording is securely stored, and access is strictly limited as per the policy.
Reports: As per DE policy, we supply two written reports to families – one in June and one in December. This year there will be some changes to the previous reporting format and content. The Department is implementing two new curricula – Mathematics and English – which have undergone a massive revamp and will see reporting needs to be changed to suit. More information will be supplied in Term 2.
Enjoy this amazing spell of weather and hope to see you all on Sunday.
