KITCHEN AND GARDEN PROGRAM FOR 2025!
Garden
We have struggled with some really hot weeks of late and the garden is strugling to stay cool and hydrated. Our year 6 teams spent the last 2 sessions planning, investigating and designing a, autumn veggie garden and then today they were able to see their designs come to life. We planted literally 100's of plants todays with seedlings and seeds and we cant wait to see how all their beds grow. They planted things such as carrots, beetroot, kale, broccoli, cabbage, spring onions, red and brown onions, herbs, brussle sprouts, corn, peas, lettuce, pollinator flowers and many more.
We now just need to keep the water up them and watch them grow so that we can be picking them next term.
We will be seeking watering helpers over the holidays to ensure their gardens success. Keep your eyes out for the roster that will come out in the next couple of weeks.
Below are pics of our year 4 legends working hard in The Patch.
Recipes!!
Kitchen
We missed the deadline for the last newsletter...OPPS!!! So this episiode is jam packed with fabulous recipes and photos.
This fornight our students cooked up some delicious food. The okonomyaki was a huge hit and we know many of the students would love to share this recipe with you at home.
Have you asked your children to cook you their dish? We would love the students to be able to continue cooking at home, so if you can suggest they prepare your family dinner one night for a lunch on the weekend, we would love to hear about it. Take some photos and email them through so we can share on our socials.
Next week we will be making yummy easter bunny bum cookies and your children would love you to come and help. Refer to the timetable for kitchen sessions for weeks 8 & 9.
Each fortnight we will endeavor to share you heaps of great action shots of your children and we will also share our recipes so that you can make them at home.
Please keep checking our page for more updates about the kitchen and garden program and all things sustainability.
SURFSIDE SNACK SHACK
The Pink Musk Truffle Balls were an absolute hit this week. We sold out of frozen pineapple and almost all of the watermelon. In fact this week was our biggest snack shack with sales of $267! We will donate $100 to One Girl, a charity that breaks down barriers so young women and girls can access quality education.
Thanks to everyone for supporting this valuable program. Students gain so much confidence and skills while contributing a, enjoyable treat for their school friends.
We would love some parent helpers to work with us on this program. If you are interested in helping with this program then please let us know. We would love to get a Parent Support team up and running for 2025.
Thanks
Clancey and Georgie
