Ready to Learn Plans

Berry Street’s Ready to Learn Plans are a proactive strategy designed to help students self-regulate, develop emotional awareness, and prepare for learning. Classroom teachers are working with every student in our school to create their own Ready to Learn Plan.

What is a Ready to Learn Plan?

A Ready to Learn Plan is a personalized tool that helps students identify their emotional state, coping strategies, and support systems to maximize their readiness for learning. It typically includes:

  • Personal Triggers – Situations or feelings that may cause distress.
  • Warning Signs – Early indicators that a student is becoming dysregulated.
  • Helpful Strategies – Personalized coping techniques such as deep breathing, movement breaks, or sensory activities.
  • Support People – Trusted staff or peers students can turn to when needed.
  • Safe Spaces – Areas where a student can take a break to regulate their emotions.

Calming/Grounding Strategy-
