Exciting new additions at Play Time
It has been an exciting week in the playground this week with the launch of two new play areas as well as 'The Great Rock Hunt' We have some wonderful Year 6 leaders who are assisting in these areas as well. Thank you to our wonderful PFA for their fundraising effort which has allowed us to purchase our chess set and equipment for loose parts play - we hope to add more equipment to this area over the next semester.
The CABIN - Loose Parts Play
In this area students are able to engage in imaginative and creative play by building and constructing with the loose parts equipment. Our Year 6 Cabin Crew will help to facilitate the play in this area by ensuring students are using the equipment and area safely and promoting cooperative play by creating positive connections between students.
Giant Chess
We have a freshly painted chess board with a Giant Chess set near the tram. The area also allows for smaller games to be played nearby. Our Year 6 leaders are helping with this area making sure the equipment is used safely, helping students with the rules of the games and managing set up and pack up.
Peer Support Leaders
Our Year 6 Peer Support Leaders support student’s positive experiences in the playground, building good relationships with their peers to support student wellbeing which builds a positive whole school culture. Peer support leaders work together collaboratively to solve problems, facilitating cooperative play and creating positive connections with students on the yard.
The great rock hunt
Student have been trying to find 150 painted rocks in the yard over the last two weeks to add them to their class catalogue. Each rock is numbered and once they have added them to their class catalogue they then return them outside for someone else to find. The hunt continues next week and the class that finds and catalogues the most rocks will get a Zooper Dooper reward. Happy hunting everyone.
