Bells 2026
Our IEC students have just wrapped up a fantastic week of swimming lessons that also included important lifesaving skills. They had an absolute blast in the water, built their confidence, and made amazing progress across the week. We are so proud of their efforts and the way they supported one another while learning these valuable skills. A big thank you to Squirts Swim School for their wonderful instruction and support!
Our first rehearsal for 2026 of ASC Orchestra kicked off with resounding success right from beat 1! We are thrilled to be welcoming so many new musicians to our membership, and always happy to welcome more. Contact Ms Richards if you are keen to be part of this fabulous learning opportunity. The orchestra meets every Wednesday at 8.00am in Room I103.
Term 1 CHS trials are up and running if your student is interested in participating in any of the events, please see Mr Watkins or Mrs Campbell in the PE staffroom to register your interest. Please listen to the daily notices throughout the term for more information about the upcoming events.

2026 National Servicemen's Association Commemoration Day
On Sunday the 15th of February, the Armidale Secondary College School Captains and members of the Student Representative Council attended the 2026 National Servicemen's Association Commemoration Day at Central Park. This day commemorates the national servicemen (conscripts) who were killed in action during WW2 and Vietnam, who died during their service and those who have passed away since completing their military obligations as well those who served Australia since 1911. Our student leaders heard about the history of National Service in Australia from former Wing Commander RAAF Ken Dickins and school Captains Rachel Gooley and Alma Kanety laid a wreath in remembrance of those national servicemen who lost their lives in service to Australia. Thank you to our student leaders who gave up part of their weekend to attend this important community event and teachers Mr Inness (relieving principal), Ms Simes and Mr Lane who supported our students at the event.
Together As One: ASC Students Champion Intercultural Understanding
In 2025, a dedicated group of students joined forces with the ASC school principal and keen staff to foster Intercultural Understanding within our school community. Their initiative quickly gained momentum when we successfully secured a grant to help promote this vital cause and we formed the ASC Together As One Group.
Since then, our journey has taken an exciting leap forward. We now have enthusiastic student Ambassadors who are committed to organising activities that celebrate cultural diversity and bring us all closer together.
Our adventure began with a memorable excursion to Coffs Harbour’s All One Under the Sun event—an inspirational celebration of cultural unity. Students and staff alike returned energised and bursting with creative ideas to share.
As we look ahead, watch out for upcoming competitions and a spectacular lineup of events for our Harmony Day celebrations on Wednesday, 18th March. Together, let's embrace our rich diversity and unite as one remarkable community at ASC!
Stay tuned and get involved!
Open Boys Cricket
This week, our Open Boys Cricket team travelled to Coffs Harbour to face off against Coffs Harbour High School in the Top 10 of the state CHS Knockout competition. ASC won the toss and elected to bat on a wet Jetty Oval. Oliver Stubbs and Jacob Williams got off to a quick start before both fell to some good bowling. Luke Whitty came to the crease and settled the ship before ASC lost another wicket. Josh Clee and Luke Whitty built an impressive partnership getting the total to 150 before losing josh to an edge to 3rd slip. Luke Whitty eventually through some impressive shot making brought up his 100. ASC finished up of their 40 overs 9/189.
Coffs Harbour went out to bat with Oliver Stubbs and Blake Swilks opening the bowling, Coffs were able to get themselves to 25 before Oliver took the first wicket with a great ball cleaning up the off stump. After CHHS were able to get to 60 before losing two wickets at the hands of Josh Clee and Oliver Stubbs. At drinks CHHS were staying solid going to 4 runs an over and making it hard for ASC to take wickets. with a breakthrough in the 31st over with a runout, this caused CHHS to collapse and ASC were eventually able to clean up the tail bowling out CHHS for 140. Shout out to Oliver Stubbs and Josh Clee for both taking 3 wickets and to the whole team for the all round team contribution with bat and in the field.
Thank you to Mr Watkins and Mr Polson for travelling, scoring and umpiring for the team.
IEC trip to the cinema
On Thursday 19th February, IEC students enjoyed an exciting day of firsts, starting with their very first swimming carnival. Many students experienced the fun of cheering, racing, and supporting one another in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
In the afternoon, they headed to the cinema - another new experience for many. Sharing a movie together was a wonderful way to end a memorable day filled with confidence-building, friendship, and smiles.
Special Religious Education
At the end of 2025 SRE students in Years 9 and 10 were asked, ‘What's one thing you have learnt in SRE this year?’
“There are lots of stories in the bible that can help us with life”.
“That everyone has their beliefs, and you should respect what other people believe in”.
“A Christian's worldview can offer real hope and purpose”.
The NSW Department of Education recognises that spiritual wellbeing plays an important role in successful learning. SRE nurtures a student’s sense of meaning and purpose and promotes positive connections with faith and community in a safe and secure environment.
Students in Years 7-10 at ASC are offered fortnightly SRE classes. Parents and Carers may notify the school in writing at any time if they wish for their child to participate in SRE.
