Welcome Our New Deputy Principal for Year 8 and Year 11
We are pleased to introduce Nikki Munday, the new Deputy Principal responsible for Year 8 and Year 11 at Armidale Secondary College.
Nikki has a strong connection to the Armidale region, having taught locally since 2004. Their career began at Duval High School, followed by several years at Armidale Secondary College. Over the past two years, Nikki has served as a Curriculum Adviser for the TAS faculty, working closely with schools and teachers across the state.
Reflecting on this experience, Nikki notes that while schools can be quite different, they often share many of the same needs when it comes to supporting students.
As Deputy Principal, Nikki is committed to creating a safe, welcoming atmosphere where students feel happy and supported.
Their goals include:
Year 8 Goals:
- Help students feel at home in high school
- Build positive friendships and strong learning habits
Foster responsibility and wellbeing
Year 11 Goals:
- Support future planning beyond school
- Develop confidence and decision-making skills
Promote resilience and academic balance
We warmly welcome Nikki back to our school community and look forward to the positive impact she will make across Years 8 and 11.
If you have any questions or would like to get in touch, please feel free to contact the school.
From the Deputies
Welcome back to everyone ,
At ASC, we are strongly committed to upholding our core values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. This includes following our Off and Away strategy, which requires mobile phones to be switched off and kept in school bags throughout the school day.
We would also like to remind families that, in order to help keep our students safe online, young people under the age of 16 should not be accessing a range of social media platforms.
From 10 December 2025, a new law introduced by the eSafety Commissioner and the Australian Government requires many major social media platforms to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under the age of 16 from creating or maintaining accounts on their services.
✅ Minimum Age Requirement
The following platforms are considered age-restricted and must not allow under-16s to hold accounts:
Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X, YouTube, Reddit, Threads, Twitch and Kick.
This applies to both existing and new accounts. Platforms are required to implement age-checking processes and remove or deactivate accounts belonging to users under 16.
As parents and carers, we ask for your support in helping your child comply with this new legislation. Bullying and harmful interactions often occur across these platforms, and by working together, we can minimise the risks and reduce the harm that negative online behaviour can cause.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students safe and supporting our shared school values.
