Principal Message

Relieving Principal Daniel Inness

2026 begins

It is with pleasure that we welcome the incoming Year 7 cohort as they commence their secondary school journey. It is an exciting moment for the families of the class of 2031 as their young people move from primary school into secondary education. For many families this represents the start of your relationship with the Armidale Secondary College (ASC) community. We welcome these new families. We also welcome back our families who have already helped in shaping our story.

The term is only a few weeks old but already so much to be proud of from our students and community.

IEC swim school

Our IEC students have just wrapped up an exciting and rewarding week of swimming lessons, which included essential lifesaving skills. They had an absolute blast in the water, boosted their confidence, and made impressive progress throughout the week. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and the way they supported one another during this learning journey.

A big thank you to Squirts Swim School for their fantastic instruction and ongoing support in helping our students develop these valuable skills!

Swimming Carnival

ASC Swimming Carnival Was a Blast!

What an amazing day it was at the ASC Swimming Carnival! It was fantastic to see so much team spirit on display, with many swimmers setting impressive paces throughout the event. A special shoutout to our Year 12 students who had a great time participating in their last swimming carnival—what a memorable way to celebrate! A warm welcome to our Year 7 students at their very first carnival—they all had a blast!

Congratulations to all the swimmers for their effort and enthusiasm.

2026 National Servicemen's Association Commemoration Day

On Sunday, 15 February, the Armidale Secondary College School Captains and members of the Student Representative Council attended the 2026 National Servicemen's Association Commemoration Day at Central Park. This important event honours the national servicemen (conscripts) who were killed in action during WWII and Vietnam, those who died during their service, those who have passed away since completing their military obligations, and all who have served Australia since 1911.

Our student leaders had the privilege of hearing about the history of National Service in Australia from former Wing Commander RAAF Ken Dickins. School Captains Rachel Gooley and Alma Kanety laid a wreath in remembrance of the national servicemen who lost their lives in service to our country.

We extend our thanks to our student leaders for giving up part of their weekend to participate in this meaningful community event, and to Ms Simes and Mr Lane for their support throughout the day.

School Photos

Last week was school photo week, and it was great to see so many smiling faces! A warm welcome to all our new Year 7 students as they had their first high school photos taken. It was also wonderful to see students dressed in full school uniform, looking sharp and ready for the year ahead.

On personal note, I would like to express my gratitude to all the students, staff and community who have made me feel so welcome as I have relieved as principal for Ms Allford. The kindness and care that this community exudes has been humbling. On day 1this year I addressed the students about the ASC core values, and they have continued to demonstrate RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT, and RESILIENCE as they helped me to quickly settle into the college for these 5 short weeks. A big thank you and best wishes to ASC.
