Principal's message

Dear Families,
As we reach the halfway point of Term 1, there is a wonderful sense of energy and optimism across our school. 2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting year, and together with our CPPS Team we are focused on making our school a true ‘school of choice’ for families in our community.
As Acting Principal, along with Mr Simon as Acting Deputy Principal, Ms Sue (IEL Assistant Principal) and Ms Alanah stepping into the role of Wellbeing Leader, I am excited to be leading our site. The leadership team, alongside our dedicated staff, set a strong foundation for continued growth, innovation and care for every child.
Learning remains at the heart of all we do. Our DIBELS beginning-of-year testing is underway, providing valuable insight into each student’s literacy development. Our goal is clear: growth for every student. Through intentional teaching aligned with the South Australian Curriculum and the Department for Education’s areas of impact, we are strengthening our focus on literacy, metacognition and learning dispositions. Our staff have engaged in rich teaching and learning discussions about ‘how students learn best and how we can ensure high-quality instruction in every classroom’.
Student wellbeing and belonging are equally important. Our commitment to Positive Behaviour for Learning continues to build a consistent, supportive environment where expectations are clear and students feel safe, respected and ready to learn. Leaders have also met with Department for Education Student Support Services professionals to ensure we are providing the best possible support for students within our areas of impact. We are proud to work proactively to meet the diverse needs of our learners.
Beyond the classroom, our community connections are thriving. Choir rehearsals and excursions are already bringing joy and rich learning experiences. Our Acquaintance Night provided a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to connect, strengthening the partnerships that are so vital to student success. As we approach our AGM and Governing Council meeting, we look forward to strategic conversations with families, parents and caregivers — people who ‘know their children best’. Together, we are aligning our work with the Department for Education’s priorities, the SA Curriculum and our shared vision.
We also recognise the importance of relationships among staff. Celebrating staff birthdays and taking time to connect as human beings reminds us that strong relationships underpin a strong school. When adults feel connected and valued, our students benefit.
We respectfully acknowledge and support members of our community observing Ramadan during this time, recognising the importance of faith, reflection and community for many of our families.
As we move into the second half of Term 1, our focus remains clear: strong teaching, strong relationships and strong partnerships with families. Thank you for your ongoing trust and collaboration. Together, we are building a vibrant, inclusive and high-performing school community where every child can thrive.
We look forward to our continued work together, as we grow and develop amazing young people who will help our world to be a thriving and nurturing place to live!
