Wellbeing Report

What a settled and calm start to the year we are having at Millwarra P.S. It has been a pleasure getting to know our new Prep students and engaging them in our wellbeing practices.
Warburton East has started a weekly Wellbeing Club on Wednesdays. This has been a big hit, with students participating in mindful colouring, chess, Lego and listening to music. It is wonderful to watch students of all ages interact and spend quality time together.
During Wellbeing, we have been looking at emotions and the way they look and feel in ourselves and others. This has included students playing a range of games where they mirror and identify emotions based on body language, as well as our senior students developing timelines of their emotions across a school day.
We have also focused on how we can build connections with our classmates. This has explored the importance of listening to different people’s perspectives and using the names people wish to be called. It has been a great celebration of recognising our similarities and differences, and strengthening our connections.
This week, our students really highlighted how hard their teachers have been working to make learning fun. This is evident in the new programs our staff have been implementing, such as Top 10 Maths — a hands-on approach to learning through games and manipulatives — as well as Little Learners Love Literacy. Our students reflected on this in their gratitude journals this week.
Here are some of the things we love about our teachers at Millwarra Primary School:
William – I am grateful for using the exercise bike while doing my work, having my own desk and using laptops.
David – I am grateful for more hands-on work.
Luna – I love that Ms Smulders gives me extra work.
Loki – I love how she makes things for us to work with.
Ollie – She is cute and I love when she reads stories.
Kyrro – I love how Miss Hadjer helps me with my writing, maths and literacy.
JJ – Thank you, Miss C, for teaching me place value.
Billy – Miss C, you are the best teacher ever and I love the maths you give me.
