Year 5 - Academic Assessment Services Reports

We would like to inform you that your son’s Year 4 Academic Assessment Services (AAS) report has now been uploaded to the Parent Orbit App. This report provides a comprehensive overview of his performance across a range of literacy and numeracy domains.

Included with the report is a supplementary letter titled “Bright Ideas for Reading.” This document offers suggested reading material tailored to your son’s performance in the assessment, helping to support his ongoing development with texts that match his current level and extend his skills.

The information gathered through the AAS assessment played an important role in shaping our class placement decisions for the 2026 academic year. In addition to supporting initial placement, this assessment will form part of your son’s long‑term data profile at the College. It will be used as a benchmarking and tracking tool throughout his time at St Patrick’s, helping us monitor progress, identify learning trends, and ensure that each student continues to be supported at their point of need.

Please contact your son’s class teacher if you have any questions regarding his report.

Year 6 Camp

Last week, our Year 6 students enjoyed an engaging and memorable camp experience in Canberra, exploring key national institutions and deepening their understanding of Australia’s democratic system, history, and sporting culture.

The boys visited Parliament House, where some groups had the unique opportunity to sit in on Question Time and see Australia’s leaders in action. Some groups even got the chance to meet with Sally Sitou, member for Reid, where many of our students reside.

Students also toured the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, gaining insight into the rich history of our political system, and spent time at the Australian War Memorial, where they learned about the service and sacrifice of Australians who have served in conflict.

The trip also included a visit to the Royal Australian Mint where students witnessed live coin production, as well as a journey to the Canberra Deep Space Centre where students explored Australia’s role in communicating with Deep Space.

A highlight for many was visiting the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Students explored world‑class training facilities, learned about elite performance, and were even lucky enough to see several athletes in training.

In the evening, the boys enjoyed an exciting after-hours visit to Questacon, where hands‑on science exhibits and live demonstrations kept everyone engaged and inspired.

The camp was a wonderful blend of learning, teamwork, and new experiences. We thank Year 6 Coordinator, Mr Antonio Morris, for his outstanding orgnisation and leadership of the Camp.
