Over the past three Fridays, we have welcomed the 2025 Foundation students to Charlton College. Students have met their teacher Lizzie, familiarised themselves with the classroom, and shared stories, songs and craft. Last Friday was a slightly longer session, allowing students to taste some of the different areas of the curriculum. They loved writing their numbers on mini whiteboards in Numeracy with Lizzie, enjoyed a game of ‘real life’ Hungry, Hungry Hippos in PE with Mr Kemp, and finished the day with a Chinese lesson with Ms Yap, they learnt about Chinese culture and how to say their very first words in Chinese! We’re so excited to see these students back at the beginning of next year as they begin their school journey.
During last week’s class students investigated “Sound is made from vibrations”. They really enjoyed seeing and feeling the vibrations.

Maisie
Activity 2: placing a tuning fork in the water.
"The fork hits the bench, it vibrates and when you put it in the water it splashes"

Activity 3: rice on a plastic wrapped bowl, next to a loud speaker.

Shalmain recommended the book The 13-Story Treehouse by Andy Griffiths. The picture book involves the main characters Andy, Terry and friend Jill in their amazing treehouse with many things. The story is about Andy and Terry making a treehouse and adding many stories to it. The treehouse has a bowling alley, jungle and many other things. Shalmain would recommend the book to Years 3+ and rates the book 4 stars.
