Year 4-6:

Didgeridoo Australia Incursion

A Day of Culture and Connection with Didgeridoo Australia

Today, our Year 4, 5, and 6 students had the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in Australia’s rich First Nations heritage, thanks to an inspiring program hosted by Didgeridoo Australia. The day began with a vibrant assembly where students were introduced to Aboriginal culture through music, storytelling and dance, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience.

Students then rotated through three engaging sessions. In Didgeridoo and Beats, they worked with a master didgeridoo player, creating rhythm patterns with clap sticks and body percussion before dancing to an energetic blend of traditional sounds and electronic beats. During Song, Dance, and Storytelling, students learned traditional songs and dances while exploring Dreamtime stories and the deep cultural connections of Australia’s Indigenous people. Finally, in the Aboriginal Culture session, students handled authentic artifacts like boomerangs, emu eggs and possum skin game balls, learned to make Aboriginal paint, and listened to fascinating insights about traditional crafts and seasonal customs.

The program was a resounding success, with students fully engaged and eager to participate. They not only had fun but also deepened their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. A big thank you to Didgeridoo Australia for delivering such a meaningful and interactive experience for our school community!
