Year 8 Becoming Me

On Wednesday 20 December, we ran a successful positive identities program with Year 8 students that explored a range of issues and challenges often faced by our young people in this increasingly complex world. Pressures to conform to narrow gender stereotypes restricts personal development and impacts on students' relationships. The girls examined the importance of positive identity, positive body image and how to engage more critically with social media. The boys program focused on busting the myths about masculinity.

Comments and feedback from the students indicated the vast majority of students found the workshops useful and enjoyed doing something different to their normal classes. Teachers reported good engagement in the sessions and some meaningful discussions within the workshops. These wellbeing and engagement programs are vital to support our students to build their social, emotional and interpersonal skills alongside academic skills. We aim to run more of these co-curricular events in 2025 based on the identified cohort needs.

2025 Resource Lists

Students in Years 8-11 have received their courses for 2025. It is a significant undertaking to get to this point - from the publication of the handbook, through to course counselling and subject preferencing, and to Andrew Lewis spending hundreds of hours creating and staffing a timetable that maximises student preferences, a lot of staff have worked hard to get the best outcomes and choice for our students.

The full Wantirna College 2025 Campion Resource Lists have been published on Compass for parents to start purchasing resources. For your convenience, all our digital platforms - Edrolo, Smart Lab, Mathspace and Education Perfect - can also be purchased through Campion. We have negotiated a very favourable deal with the booksellers which includes: no service fees, free home delivery and reduced costs on stationary items.
