Making Connections Beyond the Classroom!

Over the past few weeks, the Connect Crew has been engaged in a meaningful discussion about the powerful role staff at Wantirna College play in shaping our students' lives. While excellent teaching is at the heart of what we do, we've been focusing on how stepping outside the traditional classroom setting and making genuine connections can make a lasting impact on our students.

It's not just about the lessons taught or the knowledge shared – it’s about creating an environment where students feel seen, heard, and valued. The Connect Crew has been exploring the ways in which staff can and have gone above and beyond, whether through mentoring, offering encouragement, or simply taking the time to connect with students on a personal level.

This week, we turned our appreciation into action by recognising the staff members who have made a meaningful difference. The Connect Crew decorated thank-you cookies and reflected on why they selected each staff member for recognition. Students then presented these tokens of appreciation and shared heartfelt messages about the positive impact these staff members have had on their lives.

In the Connect Crew, we believe our school is about creating an inclusive, supportive community where students thrive both inside and outside the classroom. We are proud of the staff who continuously strive to make a positive difference, and we look forward to seeing these connections continue to flourish.
