Behind the News Incursion

Behind the News host Amelia Moseley and journalist/production coordinator Natasha Thiele visited Wantirna College last week and spent time with the Year 7s explaining what it is like working for BtN, its history, and the reporting process. The students had a great time and Amelia and Tash were kept busy answering a lot of questions. We asked the students afterwards their impressions and received the following feedback:

I liked how they broke down their process for making their show with a lot of detail, because it made me feel like I was part of the BTN crew. Amelia was also really kind and interesting to listen to. ~ Kynan

I enjoyed the visit. It was informative and fun. ~ Hari

It was really fun to meet Amelia and Tash, I also enjoyed listening to them answer the questions we asked them. ~ Savannah

Seeing Amelia and Tash was amazing, I’ve always loved watching BTN and this was such a rare experience and we were so lucky to have them come to our school, we got to ask and answer questions and we got prizes, at the very end I volunteered to go up and thank them and then I got to hug them and Amelia gave me her hat which overwhelmed me with joy and I was so happy, I almost cried, I’m never recovering. ~ Aila

Summer House Reading Challenge 2025

The Summer Reading House Challenge is back on. Students and staff are invited to read a book over the summer break, then talk to a member of the Library Team about it in the first weeks of Term 1. By doing this you will earn your House one point. Only one book per person, so everyone can contribute equally towards their house points. You can also write a book review to earn an additional 5 points. Students are able to borrow over the summer holiday period – please talk to a Library staff member about this. More details regarding the Summer Reading Challenge will be broadcast at the start of Term 1. We look forward to hearing about all the various books everyone has read over the summer break. Which house name will be added to the shield in 2025?

Returning books at the end of the year

The end of the year is fast approaching, and despite regular reminders we have found that there is still a great deal of overdue Library books out there. Reminder emails are regularly sent to students, so please check their Junk folder in case there is one lurking in there. Books more than 5 months overdue have a Compass reminder. The Library is open for returns until 4pm Thursday 19th December. Remember – Library books are a shared commodity and need to be returned so others can enjoy reading them. Thanks for your help.

Library closed Week 10 &11

The Library will be closed for stocktake from Monday 9 to Friday 20 December. Books can still be returned during this time, but students will not be allowed in the Library before or after school. Please email the library if you need to make special arrangements for your student. Thank you for your understanding.
