Charity Soccer Match - Year 11
On Monday 25 November, the Year 11 Captains ran a Movember soccer charity match in an effort to raise money in support of men's health. We had two of our predominant Year 11 soccer teams, Barbie and Republic, compete with each other to promote friendly competition and determine which soccer team was the best.
We worked together with the SRC to hold a sausage sizzle, it was great to see many student helpers and leaders assisting in cooking and serving sausages. 150 sausages were sold, which ultimately raised $295 for the Movember charity. Zooper doopers were given out to the Year 11s for their engagement and participation throughout the year.
The vibes were immaculate with our DJ Ashton on aux controlling the music and matching the energy of our players. We had Mr Mooney umpiring and Mr Burleigh MC'ing the intense game.
In the end, the winning team was Republic ending their year-long rivalry with Barbie and earning the title of being winners.
"The game was back and forth all the way until the final siren, both teams fought hard and put their bodies on the line with great defensive pressure, the attack from barbie was menacing putting republic in a postition of desperation where man of the match jesse nealy pulled through saving countless shots on goal. Although a low scoring game this was all made up for in the final minutes in a penalty shootout where republic where able to pull ahead and win (2-1) in pens, despite having a goal disallowed in the early stages of the game. overall both republic and barbie should be proud of their efforts in raising $295 for the movember charity." ~ Jack Hawkes, Republic Player
"No comment..." ~ Peter Deves, Barbie Player
This event was a great success with an eager audience from all year levels. An incredible way to finish off our last Year 11 event as Year 11 Captains!
