Year Two - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
We had a busy week this week with our Foundation-Year 2 Athletics Carnival and Damascus Community Mass. A huge thank you to all the families who help and supported at both of these events. The students showed great sportsmanship cheering on not only their teams but all student during the sporting event. They displayed reverence during the Mass speaking clearly and singing beautifully.
Next week we are learning...
Religious Education: We will be having a special guest speaking talking to us about St Vincent De Paul Society and how they help people within our community. This will introduce us to our new taking action fundraiser.
Mathematics: We are learning about patterns. Students will recognise, describe and create additive patterns that increase or decrease by a constant amount, using numbers, shapes and objects, and identify missing elements in the pattern.
English: We will be looking at completing sentences when provided with a sentence stem containing a subordinate conjunction (since, although). Our spelling focus is identifying when /c/ and /g/ say their different sounds: c = k OR s | g = g OR j.

Auslan: This week we are learning that we need to sign the object before we can describe it. It is important to sign what the object is first, to give your communication partner context.
Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: We are focusing on help seeking and the skills to use when needing support from others.

Reminders
STSS: Please bring materials to make musical instruments. These materials include: paper plates/bowls, cereal boxes, paper towel tubes, plastic spoons, wax paper, decorative tape and rice.
With the weather being unpredictable at the moment it is a great time to remember to ensure all students clothing is labelled. We are gathering quite a collection of jumpers and hats that students have taken off and not placed correctly into their bags.
We are also seeing lots of students coming to school without their drink bottles. This causes a disruption to the class when students need to leave the learning space to get a drink at the taps outside. We allow student in Year 2 to keep their drink bottle on their table and use as needed within the classroom.
